First time visiting Mexico and honestly I am not planning to go back. The hotel was beautiful, lots of animals and nature but the food was not good at all. I feel like I was eating leftovers from someone else. Buffet food was disappointing and not enough options to choose. We were a party of 12 and the staff refuse’s a couple of times to sit us together. Also, mo reservation available for our group, we just eat 1 time at the steakhouse after talking to the buffet manager about the bad quality of the food. I was traveling with my son and one night the only option was Mac and cheese, all protein was bones and leftovers. Also, the attitude from some of the hotel staff members was bad, they didn’t make me feel welcome at all and we noticed they were treating us different just because our nationality, ( obviously they always asked where you came from) I was expecting a better experience considering that Mexico is a country full of tourists.If you are planning to visit this place, i suggest you to think twice.

It was difficult getting dinner reservations( rude) . People didn’t not enforce the dinner dress code. Music needed to be uniformed throughout the pool areas. People should not be allowed to take their own music speakers(annoying) to have multiple music playing.

Occidental Xcaret had beautiful views. However they have so much open spaces that require more fans or AC to keep it less hot. Food options were not the greatest unless you booked for a seat down dinner which you can only do so many based on days your are staying. The best place to find some appetizing food without reservations was Pacos Tacos. The area that I believe requires immediate attention is the front desk and check in process. We arrived closed to 3pm and we're not advised of areas where we could find one thing to eat. After a long morning of traveling we where hungry and no one could tell us what places where open to find something to eat. In addition the virtual map is not too clear it's pixelated, when we approached the front desk Cristina had a horrible attitude when we asked for better directions or if we could get a physical map when I told the image was pixelated she said "well no one has ever complained your obviously zooming in too much" her delivery was horrible. From other resorts experiences this was definitely a let down, during the check in process there should be someone giving a tour (specially with the type of resort this is that requires a lot of walking to locate places). I hope management really looks at providing better training or process to their help desk and overall staff it should not have taken us to walk all around and talk to a hand full of staff to find out where to find something to eat after 3pm.

Stayed at the Occidental Xcaret, which had many good reviews, but after our stay, we were a bit disappointed. The food was not good at all, which made the stay unpleasant. Even though the buffet had different themes each night, many of the same dishes were repeated, and the overall quality was low. One of us even got sick on the second day after eating here. The rooms were clean, but we had several issues — the sheets weren’t always fresh, the shower head was broken with barely any water pressure, and the mini-fridge didn’t work. Even after someone came to check it and replaced it, it still didn’t function. We switched rooms, and the mini-fridge in the new room also didn’t work. The resort’s location was nice, but the beach area was very small and often crowded. The concierge assigned to us was no help, so that feature felt pointless. One thing to note is that restaurant staff often ask guests to leave a review right after providing good service, which likely explains many of the positive ratings. The club was nice, and some areas of the resort were enjoyable, but overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
