Stayed at the Occidental Xcaret, which had many good reviews, but after our stay, we were a bit disappointed.
The food was not good at all, which made the stay unpleasant. Even though the buffet had different themes each night, many of the same dishes were repeated, and the overall quality was low. One of us even got sick on the second day after eating here.
The rooms were clean, but we had several issues — the sheets weren’t always fresh, the shower head was broken with barely any water pressure, and the mini-fridge didn’t work. Even after someone came to check it and replaced it, it still didn’t function. We switched rooms, and the mini-fridge in the new room also didn’t work.
The resort’s location was nice, but the beach area was very small and often crowded. The concierge assigned to us was no help, so that feature felt pointless.
One thing to note is that restaurant staff often ask guests to leave a review right after providing good service, which likely explains many of the positive ratings.
The club was nice, and some areas of the resort were enjoyable, but overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
