I like having an ocean view, being to have a private beach and walkable to town. The only negative is a staff whose name is Amparo was very rude and ignored us. She even looked at us and started talking to another staff person. She wouldn't take our order in the snack bar and if she did, she never gave it to us. I had to ask another staff for our order, and he got it, and it was cold. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who got the cold shoulder from her. The fact is we didn't even do anything to her for her to treat us that way. Please let management know about tis staff.

Lovely staff. Great beach. Good drinks. Food was nice in the buffet but not the easiest for vegetarians. Only 1 vegetarian dish at each a la carte restaurant and no willingness from the hotel to be flexible. But the buffet had good options most of the time (though not always sign posted)

El hotel es chiquito y acogedor, había poca gente y eso mejora las cosas, la comida es regular a buena y el alcohol es regular a malo, para los niños la alberca está bien pero no hay ninguna resbaladilla ni nada, el kids club no fuimos, dicen que estaba bien, la playa tenía mucho sargaso y aún que lo limpian diario pues sigue siendo un problema mayor

We absolutely love ABR! Our family has been visiting this resort for the past 15 years, and it continues to be a special place for us. Each year, we notice thoughtful updates and improvements, all while maintaining the natural beauty of the grounds, which blend seamlessly with the surroundings. Everything is always impeccably clean, and the staff is consistently kind, polite, and attentive. We especially enjoy the 8 AM yoga sessions, daily beach volleyball, and the wide variety of delicious food and drinks. While the evening entertainment could use some improvement—most nights the bands don't quite energize the crowd—there’s always a great atmosphere in the main palapa after dinner. Sundays are a highlight, with a fantastic Salsa/Cumbia band that gets everyone on the dance floor! During our recent stay, the sargassum issue affected the beaches, which was unfortunate but beyond anyone’s control. Akumal Bay is typically home to some of the most stunning beaches and snorkeling we’ve ever experienced. Overall, we love this resort for its welcoming, international vibe and outstanding customer service. We look forward to returning again!

Relaxing Retreat with Incredible Service — Watch out for the Seaweed We recently stayed at Akumal Wellness Resort in Akumal, Mexico, and overall had a wonderful and restorative experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel truly welcome — warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The people here are what make this place so special. One of the highlights of our trip was the spa — the services were absolutely amazing. Every treatment we experienced was expertly done, leaving us relaxed and refreshed. It’s a must-do if you're staying at the resort. The food and drinks were another highlight. Every meal was delicious, and the drinks were always on point — fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. Whether poolside or at dinner, the culinary offerings exceeded our expectations. The only downside of our trip was the sargassum (seaweed) on the beach. Unfortunately, it was heavy during our visit, which made the beach largely unusable. While this is a natural and seasonal issue that many Caribbean destinations face, it was disappointing not to be able to fully enjoy the otherwise beautiful beachfront. That said, the resort made up for it in many other ways. If you're looking for a relaxing escape with great people, fantastic food, and top-tier wellness services, Akumal Wellness Resort is worth considering. Just be sure to check the seaweed conditions if the beach is a key part of your vacation plans. Would have been 5 stars if not for the seaweed.

Do not purchase extra time for massages , they will charge you and not give you the time and refuse to give your money back. Also was given the “honeymooners package” and only received part of it. The food was not good, there were maybe 3 good dishes between all 4 restaurants and don’t waste your time on the buffet. The place is quiet which we enjoyed, but their snorkeling only includes a mask not a snorkel so they will charge you for the snorkel as well. They make up their own currency exchange there that is different from anywhere else in akumal so you will pay out the butt for anything at the resort. the staff was overall very good and attentive. Honestly the only great this was the room, which didn’t have hot water for 2 days, and the staff and waiters. Stay at the resort next door as it’s nicer and seems to have happier guests.

The service was beyond expectations! The snorkeling was the best I have found off the beach at a resort. Plenty of beach chairs and towels Buffet, snack bar and sushi bar were very good. The Mexican restaurant was by far the best of all others. Rooms were clean and comfortable!
