With some 500,000 people calling the capital of Portugal home, you're bound to meet some new like-minded BFFs during your journey. Once you've hit the tarmac at Humberto Delgado Airport and picked up your bags, Arroios will be a drive of 4 kilometres to the south. From central Lisbon District, it's 2 kilometres to the north.
A good deal of this city's sights are dotted near Arroios, and Castle of Sao Jorge and Lisbon Cathedral are two of the most outstanding. The must-see sights of Jeronimos Monastery and Cristo Rei are also on your doorstep. While you're here, consider checking out some other neighbourhoods to taste more of what Lisbon District has to offer. Estefania and Avenida Almirante Reis are good suggestions that are a short distance away.
