The hotel has WiFi that is only really useful for emails. Not for streaming. The WiFi kept cutting out. Not all my devices were able to connect at all onto the network.
The room I stayed in could do with basic upkeep and standards of cleanliness. There was lots of dust on surfaces. I had to keep all my clothes in my suitcase.
The toilet and bathroom were clean. However the toilet seat was broken throughout my stay (2 nights).
There was lots of noise at night in the apartment blocks that share the courtyard. People singing, shouting, banging doors. If you want peace and quiet it’s not ideal.
Bed was soft and the mattress would become mishapen when you laid down on it.
It is not the Adlon but if you are looking for value for money accommodation with a bakery at the end of the street where you can get a wide choice of breakfast and excellent coffee then look no further. Lots of restaurants but the two Italians and the Greek Taverna closest to the hotel offer good food at reasonable prices. If I visit Berlin again I would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

Satisfactiory
Booked late in evening so checked in easily over the phone.hotel looks like its being refurbished at the moment so the entrance hall area had tape and new paint. Couldn't open window (which was also meant to be a fire escape!-slightly worrying) Otherwise, good location, quiet area and friendly check out
Everything went well except one negative comment: Every day I left the room in the morning and returned around 1-2pm which is the time where the maid cleans the room (at least mine). Since I was at that precise moment in my room, she did not clean it, nor returned to clean it later after I left again the hotel. I had two days without anybody cleaning the room, making bed, towel change, etc..
I think its easy to coordinate with guests this, and/or let them know that if you are in the room during the period where these are cleaned, you won't get it cleaned later..
This is a quiet, safe and clean hotel only a few rooms. Mine was on first floor. No special amenities, no elevator but close to shopping and free WiFi. I did not have any problems with access or staff, but again a small simple place. No dining room, can get coffee and croissant for 3Euros. I didn't but went out to nearby places. If you need attention for health issues, etc, not the place. But I would stay there again, I like to be out all day, but one day I came back for a nap. No problems at all.
Excellent location close to main S Bahn line with a good restaurant nearby for breakfast and a good bakers shop for reasonably priced baguettes and cakes.Value for money. Would definitely stop here again.
The hotel was easy to get to using public transportation and in a cute neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and shopping. The manager was prompt in responding with questions regarding arrival and departure information. The room was very comfortable, simple, and clean. Just make sure the office is open when you plan to arrive or leave.
This hotel was a bit different than others that we had stayed in from the USA. The hotel is part of an apartment building. After entering the front, you head straight thought the foyer and right back out into the courtyard, then back in to the reception. Rooms are on the 0 floor, 1st and 3rd. Note that the ground floor in Germany is 0. We had to lug 2 heavy suitcase up 4 floors - no elevator. The rooms were nice and clean. We didn't plan on staying in our room during the day, so the small room size wasn't a problem, but I suspect most rooms here are not very big. Our first night got us the last room with two twin beds put side by side. They were part of a bunk bed, so there was a wooden rail between me and my wife. We were able to move down to the 0 floor on the second and third night. Still two single beds next to each other, but no wooden rails. The location was great - near the high end shops and you could walk to the zoo in about 1/2 mile. We rented bikes from right outside the hotel for a very reasonable rate. We were about 1/2 block from the S Bahn and dozens of very good restaurants nearby. The only thing bad was we kept getting kicked of the internet. Not sure if it was our laptop or on the hotels side.
This hotel is good location near to train station but the staff not 24 hours.... When we arrived it is dark in main entrence.........

Elegia Hotel Berlin
Staff are helpful, the room was good. Overall the hotel is a bit down at heel, but great value for the price. Bathroom facilities kept clean. The neighborhood, just off Ku'damm, has plenty of restaurants , including a very nice cheap pizza joint (ali babas - go figure - pizza and half a litre of chianti for 11 Euros) S bahn 5 minutes walk

Done on the cheap. Staff can't be bothered.
We arrived at the hotel at 5pm to find that we couldn't get in the door. A notice said that if no-one was at reception then to call a German mobile number. I called the number on my roaming phone and was told rudely to go down the street to a restaurant to ask for the key to my room and that I was to report to reception at 8am to pay. Having got the key we had to find the room ourselves, which wasn't easy considering that we had to wander through a courtyard and go through a maze of rooms. We were unable to access the "free wifi" as we could not find anyone to ask for a password. The beds were uncomfortable and the building in need of renovation. However the only plus point was that the rooms were very clean. From the literature in the room it appeared that breakfast was included. When we reported to reception to pay we were told that it was not, and that we could go to the aforementioned restaurant and pay for their breakfast if we wanted. The lady was rude and demanded payment immediately. If I hadn't had a phone that was able to roam, I doubt that I would have been able to get into this hotel. I really would not recommend it to anyone.
Hotel Elegia is located in a quiet street, a few minutes walk away from luxury stores including Louis Vuitton. Your nearest train station is Savignyplatz.
The location is safe, and quiet, there are some restaurants, especially around Savignyplatz but these can sometimes be expensive.
The hotel itself is fine, and because the layout is within an apartment block, it feels like you are really 'living' in Berlin. I would pay the extra euros for a private bathroom and if possible request that your room is not the one next to the communal bathroom as you will hear people going in and out all the time. Your room may also have 4/5 beds in there, so this probably isn't the best option for a romantic weekend in Berlin.
Reception staff spoke English but note that reception is not 24 hours and if you need something out of hours your call will be transferred to someone who is probably housekeeping and whose English is not as great.
You should also read the reviews on the tripadvisor website.
This is a good, cheap option for a first time in Berlin, and I was satisfied with the hotel, although given the choice again I would have booked somewhere in a more lively area, eg near Oranienburger or Friedrichschain.
Getting to hotel from Berlin Tegel airport is fine. Use Berlin transport 'journey planner' to help you. Take the 109 bus from airport and then change at Jakob Kaiser Platz for the U7 to Adenaur Platz and walk from there.
This is a little Pension. It was our first experience in a German Pension. Entering the building and the corridor, which was rather dark, we wondered whether we should stay. But, the room was very nice and quite large. It was in a nice, safe area and not far from a train station. Lot of little pubs and restaurants to eat at. But, the nearest internet cafe is a long way away - quite a walk. There was no phone in the room, and no internet at the hotel (or if there was, typical of German hotels, the internet didn't work). We only stayed one night because it was too far from internet service, which we needed in order to plan the rest of our travels, and the room quickly booked out for a second night so we needed to move anyway.
