I stayed at Sonesta in Burlington VT last week from 2/17/26-2/19/26 where I have previously stayed without issues but this time the entire experience was horrendous. I tried asking for the manager but he was never there and the worker I tried dealing with was beyond rude! My room had blood on the sheets, ants all around the stove, dead centipedes on the kitchen floor, bath towels had feces on them, the bathroom was extremely filthy covered in some feces plus hair, the pool was closed which was not disclosed prior, and breakfast consisted of only pancakes without any condiments and yogurt! Please assist me with this and if needed I have photos.

I was charged an early check-in fee, but the room wasn't cleaned at all, despite the fact that I checked in an hour later than expected. Two male maintenance workers worked on the bathtub for over an hour, not asking if it was okay, swearing, and not realizing that, as a female, I may not be concerned for my safety. When leaving, they asked that I check to see if the plumbing leaked. I wasn't able to because they locked the utility door. I then had to clean the bathtub before it could be used, as well as the floors, which were dirtied after they walked across them in their work boots. I didn't feel comfortable using the kitchen area, as there were visible crumbs on the floor, in the cabinets, and on the counters. Additionally, the microwave was broken. After sharing my concerns with the desk clerk, there was no remedy offered.

Not happy with the entire experience. When we checked in, we found out the Pool was Closed, which was extremely disappointing because it was actually the only reason we switch from the Air BNB we had perviously booked. The room it self was okay, but we immediately found a single sock and a winter hat, that was left from the last guest, which of course led us to believe the room had not been properly cleaned, The bathroom had a funky smell, and the tube had black mold around the edge. The kitchen cabinets were painted and had so many scratches all over them which just added to the worn and under serviced vibe. We had a fire place but the front desk told us we had to use the synthetic logs for purchase but they were out the only nights we were around and would have used it, adding to the disappointment. Which brings me to some safely concerns I had, there were huge icicles hanging off the roof eves, and when I say huge, one in particular I saw near the pool room, was so large it could have easily crushed a child if it broke lose and fell on someone, I recognized the danger and wouldn’t let my two kids get close to it, but because they’re large and kinda beautiful some kids and grown ups are naturally drawn to get close I saw a lot of evidence some of the icicles had broken and fell on the concrete pathways which was alarming that nobody was cleaning that up which was both a tripping hazard and a dangerous to anyone walking under They were not small chunks of ice.

The room was dingy, it definitely felt like it needed a good cleaning. One of the main reasons we booked was because of its capacity. We were traveling with 3 children and needed beds for each. The sofa was a pull-out bed, which was exactly what we needed. Problem was there was no blanket/comforter or pillow for the pull-out. I called the front desk as was asked if I really needed it. Then I was told he would call back in about 10 minutes because the linens were being washed. This was about 11 pm. I never heard from or saw that person again. I tried calling the front desk and someone from Expedia tried calling and there was ne response. On top of that the channels they advertised didn't work and what did work would break up every few minutes. The place was a dive and it needs work. Only bright spot was the Front Desk Manager the next morning being understanding about our complaints and needing to find better accomodations for the rest of our stay (yes, we left).

It was negative 8 degrees outside… we were forced to leave our house because of a sewage . I had stayed at this hotel many years ago and it was OK but this time was a nightmare. The first thing we noticed was at the door did not shut unless you slammed. Second, it’s smelled like weed, then we noticed that the room was dirty- crumbs all around stove and some old cheese in the fridge. No garbage bag in the can, many blood stains on carpet and bathroom floor was dirty. Frigid arctic air blowing in from two sides of room. We were so cold and our feet were numb. We had a toddler with us too. Gap around door of about 1/2 inch letting arctic air blow in! We couldn’t get our money back because we had booked through Orbitz so the hotel said they could do nothing about that. All I know is we will never go back there again.

This was our second stay at the Sonesta in Burlington, however this time was not nearly the same positive experience. The room was dirty upon arrival and as we arrived very late, there was nothing they could do. The couch was filthy and there was food and dirt in the cushions. There was food left in the cabinets, the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes, and even a dirty pan left inside the oven. The shower was filthy and the water wouldn't drain, and there were no extra linens for the pull out couch. Finally, the pool was out of order.

Upon arrival we noticed that room was not clean. There was hair in both bathrooms and around the sinks. The upstairs bed was missing sheets and all the tv’s were missing the remotes. We called the front desk and they brought us sheets and had to call again for remotes. We ended up cleaning and disinfecting both bathrooms and kitchen so we didn’t have to call for the third time. The ceiling fan in the living did not work and the light flickered and buzzed when you turned it on. We found old socks in the upstairs and other items from the last guest that were not picked up.

The room was ok , but not as clean as it could have been , there were some stains on the carpet and a lot of dust on the top of our headboard , etc . The pool didn’t work which is one of the reasons we chose the hotel . The person that I spoke to the day before we checked in and said that it was being worked on, and it might be fixed the next day but he couldn’t promise . Upon check in the very very sweet girl that worked at the front desk said no, it’s not expected to be ready for a couple weeks. It has been very icy in Vermont , walking to the room from our car was very slick , and some of the landings outside were glare ice . The girl at the front desk offered to give us some rock salt to take with us and then discovered she didn’t have any . I suggest contracting someone to sand the lots and walkways before someone gets hurt . Tv was messed up, channels scrambled and not coming in. Girl at desk said they had recently switched her providers and there were issues . Overall the bed was comfy and our stay wasn’t bad , but there are definite needs for better housekeeping and maintenance . The girl at the desk whose name I don’t recall was so nice !
