The Essex Resort & Spa offers 120 accommodations with iPod docking stations and safes. Each accommodation is individually furnished and decorated. The property and gardens are absolutely beautiful — the outdoor spaces are truly stunning. However, the interior of the hotel felt outdated and poorly maintained. The contrast between the charming exterior and the tired indoor spaces was disappointing. Cost was reasonable but important to leave a review hoping hotel could be updated / renewed.

Relaxing stay post friend wedding

Wife and I came for a wedding and stayed here after for a few days in Vermont. The Essex Resort was a great home base for our travel, it felt so peaceful and the staff was beyond friendly. We felt taken care of during a time we wanted rest. We ate at Lazy Goat Tavern, walked the resort, and enjoyed the hot tub in our room (not all rooms have this).

We stayed here for a wedding. The room was nice. It had a kitchenette. Only complaint is the is no exhauat fan in the bathroom making everything very wet and humid and the AC did not get very cold.
