Nice hotel, convenient location, nice castle view, helpful staff, great breakfast buffet!! Reason I gave it 1 star and would never go back is the neighbor "underbelly cowgate" next door which is an open air nightclub that starts THROBBING Teckno music at midnight and does not close down till 5 am. You will hear thumping base notes all night long without more than a 20 second break! Find somewhere else to stay if you value your sleep.

Great experience with the staff and concierge. Room accommodation was terrific and the location of the hotel is perfectly situated in the “old town” area so is convenient to the Edinburgh Castle, restaurants and shopping. If returning to Edinburgh, we would definitely stay here again.

We really liked the rooftop bar with its view of the castle. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the free drinks at Eve bar from 5-6pm. The room amenities were first rate and we were happy to have a/c. This is a wonderful hotel right a few steps away from the Royal Mile. We would definitely stay here again!

Being in the center of everything, it was a bit noisy one of the nights because of a nearby club. However, the hotel was very accommodating and quickly moved us to another room. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I will not be recommending staying at this hotel to anyone anytime soon. While it had so decent things going for it, the staff in particular were, for the most part very friendly…the noise from the street outside my window kept me awake most nights. I realize the hotel has no means by which to keep late night reveling on the street quiet, I just feel that, for the price, more can be done to insulate the guests from the noise.
