Check in is in a separate building. We found it inconvenient on multiple levels. We were assigned a second story dorm type building with no elevator. Just not what I was expecting for the price. Camping at this location, which I’ve done twice is much nicer.
Everything was great!! Although the bathroom could use an upgrade...the drain backed up while showering

Ok for a night or two - but very dated
The rooms were adequate although a little dated. Really wasn’t impressed with the food that was available at the lodge though, very poor quality. Also not happy that there was no water available in the vending machine in the block where we were staying.
This was our first trip to the Grand Canyon and the Yavapai Lodge was the perfect place to stay. Away from the crowds, walking distance to bus stops, the general store, and the cafeteria and tavern. If I go back I'm definitly staying here again.
It is an older, basic motel. The location is great, very convenient to the rim trail and bus stop. The staff was nice.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
I've been to this lodge in 2022 and again in 2025. They have improved alot. They had added self check-in and check-out kiosks and wifi was included this time
Perfect location with easy walk or shuttle to Grand Canyon Mather’s Point. The accommodations were great, and loved the General Store as well. Would def recommend this hotel for its location and overall experience.
Nice property away from busy South Rim Village. Dining options are limited unless you like cafeteria style dining. Shuttles to Village and Grand Canyon viewpoints are conveniently located in front of the lodge. Easy to get around using shuttles. A very nice grocery store with a great gift shop is within easy walking distance. Set in a wooded area. Deer and elk frequently seen.
We loved our room. Very easy walk to sunrises at Mather Point or to market. Liked the location even better than Maswik Lodge which we stayed in previously. Quick drive or shuttle yo Bright Angel Trailhead.
Accommodation was nice enough but the food in the lodge was poor, had the lasagna one night and it was a massive slab of pasta with little in the way of meat. Ate elsewhere the 2nd night and got a lovely meal. Was a comfy bed though
They messed up my reservation for a unit in the west village. And argued that I was supposed to be in east village. Booked west because all buildings are single story.
Housekeeping staff spoke Spanish therefore hard to communicate.
Checked in my Daniel with optional of no housekeeping (which I did not prefer) therefore we needed to communicate with housekeeping during our 6night stay.
