A truly outstanding hotel made even better by the kind, friendly and welcoming hosts Abby and TJ. The room was clean, very comfortable and equipped way beyond the usual standard for this room rate. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the town center, but is quiet and peaceful. I liked it so much that I changed my travel plans to stay an additional night. 100% recommendation with no hesitation since I can’t think how the hotel could be improved.

Room 10 was spacious and comfortable for two travelling friends (queen and single), an unexpected oasis in a town that, let’s face it, is pretty dreary. Very close to both the station for the TransAlpine and to Pounamu Pathway. Quiet, though on the highway. Very friendly reception staff, including Tink the cat. No-steps access. We appreciated the table for bananagrams. Functional kitchenette and very good large bathroom. As everywhere, bedside lighting was inadequate for reading.

Extremely dated and worn accommodation with poor amenities for the price charged. Guest laundry (payable) was unusable because both dryers were labelled as out of order. There is a small rotary washing line outside but given it was raining it was of no use whatsoever. Manoeuvring into and out of the parking spaces was difficult even in a small car. Also, no privacy (such as net curtains) without completely closing the curtain. Wifi was OK and the surroundings quiet.

The motel is conveniently located in town, which makes it easy to get around. The room was clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However, I found it quite noisy at night, which made it hard to sleep. The room was large, but the heater was old and small, so it didn’t warm up the whole space and it felt very cold. Overall, it was a convenient stay with great staff, but the noise and temperature made it a bit uncomfortable.
