The rooms are quite dated, though we appreciated the views, those in the restaurant below could see directly into our room. The biggest issue we faced was with the parking; we had a designated space outside our room but the hotel allowed a mini bus and trailer to park in the nearby spaces for cars, blocking us in. We wanted to leave early but had to wait for the other guests to leave, despite asking staff. They should ensure any vehicles bigger than a car parks in the main car park. The room was also quite dirty in places and the light fittings haven’t been cleaned in a while plus the decorative cushions had stains on them. The hotel is situated close to the pancake rocks but is on the busy main road, so large HGV’s passing in the night are likely to keep you awake. Despite this, it’s a decent place to stop when passing through the west coast.

Fantastic property! Staff were excellent and the scenery was unbeatable. Lounge area was great with a nice bar with solid beer, wine, and cocktail selection and an incredible view. On-site dining at the Oceanview was top notch.

We had the most magnificent room set back up the hill away from the road. We had a weka wandering outside our front sliding door. The staff in the dining room were professional but also friendly and chatty which we enjoy. This hotel is quality in every way. A do not miss for a very reasonable price!

Absolutely delightful place to stay in Punakaiki. From the delicious meal in the restaurant to sipping wine in the bar. Followed by an amazing sunset and views from our rooms balcony. We could not fault this lovely accommodation, we just wished we could have stayed longer. Compliments to the friendly and helpful staff too. They certainly made us feel at home.

Overall a very nice stay. The taps in the kitchen and bathroom were very loose and the sliding door leaked during the night. But then again it is on the west coast! Restaurant was on the pricey side of things.

I liked the environs especially the view and sound of the sea. The restaurant was very adequate and of home quality. The bathroom is probably in need of renovation in the near future the fixed shower head was a challenge for my height 😅
