I did not give a 5 for two reasons: First reason: You need to leave your room card in the slot next to door to turn on the lights in the room & bathroom; to turn off lights, take card out. When we needed to use the bathroom, it would have to be in the dark or turn on all the lights & wake up the others in the room. One should be able to turn on bathroom light only. Also replace the bathroom glass door so the light doesn’t spread throughout the room. Second reason: basically no window. There is a beautiful sliding window pane but it opens to a frosted glass window & you cannot see outside. It would have been nice to be able to see whether it was raining or sunny outside without having to go down the first floor just to look outside. Of the 6 days we stayed in the hotel, 1 was cloudy, 3 were sunny & 2 were raining. Otherwise, staff were excellent.

If you are in Kyoto, please stay here! The hotel is beautiful and in a convenient location. The staff is wonderful. When we were checking out, the staff ran up to us because someone in my group happened to be there for their birthday. They gave them a birthday card and wished them blessings and even got them a small gift! Honestly, this has been the best stay we had in Japan so far. We already deciding to come back to Japan soon as we are navigating to Osaka right now, but Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto was absolutely amazing. To the staff, thank you for a wonderful stay & thank you for your hospitality!!!!!!!

Close to the Kyoto station where is really convenient for shopping, eating and going around. The room is clean and modern designed and more comfortable than other hotels we stayed during our trip in Japan. Really like it and will come back!

The hotel is very convenient location and transportation , large room just the breakfast area is a bit poor , there is a lot of food but missing the corn flax , muesli ,,,,, need a update the room and the buffet because the hotel is a bit old but in the best location . Please make a new breakfast room .

Great convenient hotel stay next to Kyoto station

Lovely hotel, conveniently located within minutes from Kyoto station and underground eateries. Room and amenities very clean, and eco aware with the option of only topping up your complimentary water and tea bags, change of towels and throwing out your waste as opposed to cleaning the whole room. They also have a station of usual things you find in the room e.g. toothbrush, razors etc. in the lobby to reduce waste. There's a lounge in the basement that can be used 12pm to 12am for free hot drinks and juice. Staff are very polite and great, we had an issue with our first room and they didn't hesitate to help us change room within minutes.

Incredible location away from the craziness of the station but right around the corner. We also loved the convenience of the Don Quixote like store nearby. Easy luggage forwarding to our next hotel and the staff were very courteous. I liked that you could self service your amenities according to your needs. Less waste. Mattress also wasn't rock hard which was what we experienced at most other hotels
