meh. It was cheap...

The air conditioning was not really working. Set to 68 but stayed at 74 the whole time. Towels and room smelled musty, or like mildew. Door handle was VERY hard to operate

The staff were very nice and tried to be accommodating. Unfortunately, the AC in our room was not working during the hottest two days of the summer. A service tech came right away to try to fix it, but it didnt turn out to work and never cooled off through the entire night. They did give us a small standing fan, but it only moved hot air around a little. Also, the room was a king size bed and a fold out couch. It is advertised to sleep 4 people. I am a mom traveling with 3 older teen boys all over 6 ft. The fold out couch mattresses was two inches thick and just springs covered in thin material. It really couldn't be used as a bed. So uncomfortable!! We had to have two of the boys sleep on the floor. This hotel does not have roll away beds. We spoke to the manager on duty and he did apologize and offered us some extra points on our member account. The staff we encountered throughout our stay were all very kind.

The property is showing its age. We had trouble with our key card several times over our three days stay. The bistro was not open for breakfast one day. The staff on duty at the bistro was excellent on Saturday evening while working with limited resources. The staff were excellent and were very professional and helpful with all the above challenges.

Upon arriving at 5pm, we weren't able to check in because they were behind getting the rooms cleaned. This was explained right away and we were able to checkin with in 20 minutes or so. The room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed. This is notable knowing the staff was working hard to get rooms ready as customers were waiting. They could have taken short cuts, but it didn't appear they did. The rating was knocked down for 2 reasons 1) for breakfast to be included, it would have been an additional $65 for 2 people. I'm not opposed to paying extra for breakfast, but $65 for 2 people is too much. We found a diner and ate a healthy meal for half the price. 2) We looked for coffee & tea to grab before leaving. We couldn't find any so asked the front desk where it is located. The front desk said there was NO complimentary coffee available until after 9:30am which was close to when the breakfast time was done. In addition, water for tea was lukewarm. Is it really worth withholding coffee and hot water to get people to pay for breakfast? It's coffee, not top shelf bourbon.
