Our stay was ok at best. The food was an hit and miss, mostly misses. Also there’s something annoying about getting the fridge restocked and having service rendered when called upon. The room attendants are some of the hardest workers I have ever seen so let’s give credit where it’s due. The hotel can definitely use a broader range of entertainment and the drinks taste different I might add. Overall I think you guys can do much better with the right game plan. Overall my wife and two kids had “OK” fun and ok is just not good enough. Maybe in the future we’ll try a different location.

Rating: (2 out of 5) Stay at RIU Negril – Disappointed Overall My experience at RIU Negril was, unfortunately, underwhelming. Communication before arrival was very poor. I made specific requests for a special occasion, and despite multiple attempts to follow up, I never received a response. This lack of engagement set the tone for the stay. Upon arrival, the location of the rooms was far from ideal—quite a distance from the main dining areas, lobby, and entertainment, with no elevators and several stairs to navigate, making it inconvenient, especially for anyone with mobility issues. The food across the resort was mostly mediocre. Many of the items were lukewarm, with limited made-to-order options. The overall quality and flavor were disappointing, with the exception of the steakhouse, which was by far the best meal I had during my stay. The WiFi was weak and unreliable, which made it difficult to stay connected. The hotel’s app was not functioning properly during my visit, causing me to miss out on restaurant reservations for the specialty dining options. Additionally, there was no room service available for food, which was another letdown. On a positive note, the customer service staff was friendly and courteous throughout the stay. However, the resort lacked amenities and activities that are typically expected at an all-inclusive destination.

We got a room for 3 people…. We checked in on Monday we asked for wash rags for 3 people n for our entire stay we only got 2 rags….every time we ask they only gave us 2 rags…. Our room had cockroaches… none of the restaurants served alcoholic beverages only beers or wine… don’t understand why it’s an all inclusive when you can’t get what you paid for…..met very few people who know how to talk to guests of the resort…food was not good…cleanliness was subpar … a dirty cleaning rags was left on our belongings in our room….there was feces in the hallway for 2 days…

The friendliness of the staff/service workers/etc. was not upto par of that of other Caribbean island hotels. There was a lack of feeling of homeliness or welcoming that you should get when you are on vacation. We felt it was a combo of how RIU trains their staff and the environment in Negril because we were very happy with the non-RIU hotel experiences in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. Also, the vegetarian options for dinner were very limited at the specialty restaurants. Our room was ready 40 minutes after check-in time. Our luggage took an hour to be brought up once we got into our room because of miscommunication on the part of the staff. The A/C was not working in one of the rooms, until the last day. We are usually not complainers, but this was subpar for an international chain hotel.

Everything was perfect. Only thing that I complain about it the food…. Food was bland, didn’t have the authentic Carribean flavor…./ I spoke to a few people and they complained about the same: it was catered to the European population pallet. I went to Reggae in January and had the same complaint…. The jerk chicken didn’t taste jerk. The buffet could do better over all. The restaurants were good but again not Jamaican. The sports bar I wanted to try but it was freezing so I left. Overall 4 stars. Food would have made or perfect. Staff was exceptional!

We sat outside for 5 hours waiting for check in. We also had to bring our own luggage to the room. Staff barely greeted us. Cats in dining halls. Restaurants open and close too early and room service not available.
