Why oh why the ‘extra’ $20 per night charge

Well we haven’t left yet. We leave tomorrow. The hotel is perfectly located, very comfortable with a superb bar/restaurant. So why only 3 stars. Well, the $20 per night charge, forced on us via email last week and reinforced by the front desk leaves a very bitter taste. Wi fi is advertised on the website as free, also listed as free on Hotels.com. We were promised water. There has been none available for four days! In fact we have had to buy our own at CVS. We didn’t want to use and didn’t use any of the other ‘offers’. So why not make it optional? Everything else about our stay has been excellent. Old Hotel 77 has shot itself in the foot!

The rooms are small but serviceable. Overall a fine experience. One thing that is very annoying is all the small charges that are added to your bill at the end and aren't disclosed up front like the 'resort fee'.

Loved our stay here. We were in New Orleans for 5 night stay and this place was wonderful. It is conveniently close to the French Quarter but outside of it and quieter. It is also in between the French Quarter and the Garden District. The entire hotel was hip, stylish and boutique-style. We loved the exposed old brick walls, the extremely large and spacious room with high cellings and original warehouse windows. The restaurant was delicious and a highlight of our stay. We ate breakfast a number of times, the cocktails were some of the best we had and the dinner was original and delicious (the Smoked fish dip appetizer and the Fish Collar dish were out of this world. The Coconut Ceviche was wonderful). We give it two thumbs up all the way. We had our two kids (ages 13 and 10) and they loved it as well
