Great Stay. Highly recommend

We will definitely return. The location was perfect whether heading uptown or down. The hotel is located on 54th between 8th & Broadway. We actually walked easily along 8th from our train at Penn Station and the hotel, all around the theater are and up to Lincoln Center. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable- a great mattress and 2 pillow types for your preference choice. There is no coffee maker in the room but coffee and tea are available in the lobby and the coffee (with real milk or 1/2&1/2!) is really good. There is a complimentary wine in the lobby bar area between 5 and 6pm. Lastly, the room rate was reasonable!

Nice stay in NYC

Good hotel for the price. It was only a few minute walk to Times Square and also to Central Park. Lots of subway stations around, so easy access to anywhere in NYC. The staff was very polite and accommodating. Having complimentary coffee in the morning was nice. Our room was tiny. It was hard to move around the room because there was very little floor space. I stubbed my toe multiple times on the desk, dresser, bed, etc. There is padding on the bed posts, so I guess this happens to people often. I suspect all NYC hotels have small rooms, so I won't complain too much. You have to use your room key in the elevator, which is good because it prevents non-guests from accessing the guest floors. However, the elevator had a hard time recognizing either of our room keys. A couple times I ended up riding the elevator up and down several times before I was finally able to get to my floor, because I had to swipe my room key about 10 times before the elevator would recognize it and allow me to press the button for my floor. I was happy the hotel had a gym. I ran on the treadmill every morning of our stay. The treadmills were not very accurate (ex. the treadmill told me I ran 32 miles one morning when I was only running for 15 minute...). However, better to have something vs nothing at all.

This hotel is in a great location, near MOMA and many theaters. There are good options for dining. Also near Central Park and lots of transport options. It is an older building with some cosmetic upgrades, but lots of loose ends. A card is required to go to each floor, but they don't work. The safe in the room wasn't working. The "wine hour" is litterally ONLY wine -- no non-alcoholic drinks. Rugs in the room were uneven and dirty. The coffee in the morning was watery. But the rate was good, and the pluses out weigh the minuses. Be aware they charge a $20/day "facilities fee," which is a bit laughable given how run down the facilities are. Front desk staff was not very friendly, but they go the job done.

The hotel had wonderful amenities. There was a happy hour every night with a complementary glass of wine or beer. Beautiful fireplace in the lobby/bar are to enjoy your libations. Complementary coffee and tea in the lobby from 7-11 am. Complementary bottled water in the guest rooms each day. Nicely updated bathroom. Unfortunately, hotel is tired looking. Wall repairs, updated linens, carpet replacement and tired looking floor length curtains in lobby need to be replaced.
