This was our 4th stay at the Hotel Edison and while we love the location of this hotel, we definitely noticed a slide in the standard of the rooms and the attitude of some of the staff. It’s still a good hotel but this stay wasn’t our best by a long shot and I don’t know if we will return again.

My only complaint would be that my room wasn’t ready at check in, but they did comp some of the additional fees. The morning of our departure me and my family packed all of our luggage and headed down to breakfast. I had changed purses and had the breakfast vouchers locked in my suitcase in our room. I went to the desk and asked if it were possible to have breakfast vouchers and the staff member very rudely told me “absolutely not, go back to your room and unpack your suitcase” The tone was rude and made me feel like I was being treated poorly. I went back into the restaurant and told the server and she gave us our breakfast. It’s included in our booking and it was very kind of them to accommodate. The housekeeping staff and concierge were amazing though and we loved our room and location

Friendly and accommodating staff. Felt very safe and had to show room key to gain access to lobby and elevators. Grab and go breakfast was good! The vouchers also have an option for a discounted breakfast and it was plentiful for $6.50! For being in Times Square the noise levels weren’t bad, so close to many great restaurants and shopping, and of course the shows. Rooms are tiny, but comfortable and clean.

Misleading Ratings and Disappointing Experience

I recently stayed at Hotel Edison in NYC and am shocked it earned a four-star rating; in reality, it’s barely two stars. From arrival, issues were apparent: a bathroom heater that never turned off made my room unbearably hot and humid, overpowering the ineffective air conditioning. Windows were welded shut like a jail cell. Without fresh air access, comfort was impossible. Additionally, staff knocked on my door every half-hour in the morning, making rest impossible. The room phone didn’t function, forcing me to track down staff for basic amenities like tea or water, which were never automatically restocked. Want milk for tea or coffee? Prepare to pay an extra $6. Whenever I raised concerns, hotel management dismissively claimed nothing could be done. Most staff appeared miserable, devoid of hospitality or genuine care. The advertised “buffet breakfast” was a disappointing grab-and-go station offering the same high-carb items daily—an outright example of false advertising. Moreover, upon check-in, I was blindsided by an unexpected $500 tax charge, another instance of deceptive practices. Accessing the elevator required staff approval, making guests feel unwelcome and distrusted. I left feeling cheated and deeply dissatisfied. Hotel Edison failed significantly in service, comfort, transparency, and hospitality standards. It’s baffling how this hotel maintains a four-star rating. I strongly advise anyone seeking a pleasant NYC stay to book elsewhere. This hotel is a sham.

Terrible service, the room temperature was uncontrollably hot and the water was incredibly cold. If you are a fan of artic cold showers and sauna temperatures in your room, this place is for you otherwise, I recommend you find a nicer hotel. We will never go back.

This was the absolute worst hotel stay I have ever had. I was in NYC for an audition and I was only able to sleep for a single hour. The air conditioner was broken and then when it was "fixed" it made this extraordinarily loud banging and wheezing sound all night long. No one should ever stay here. It was awful.

Great hotel in an awesome location!

Great hotel conveniently located near Times Square and walking distance to many Broadway theaters. Common areas are beautiful and the guest rooms are clean and comfortable even though they are a bit small. Cleaning staff were fantastic! Very friendly and professional. Grab and go breakfast was great and super fast and efficient service. The lobby is often busy and when large groups are present, elevator access can be a bit problematic. Had one staff member get angry because another staff member waived us forward to get an elevator. We paid very good money to stay here so even though this happened only once on a 7 night stay, the negative reaction by the staff member was not appreciated. Otherwise we had a great stay (this was our second time there) and we would likely stay there again. Also think we met the owners and they were friendly and very nice to speak with.

This was such a great property to stay at. Check in/out very simple and fast despite a packed lobby. You can check in early for a fee or just leave luggage at hotel for a fee. Staff was very nice and helpful. Few things, our thermostats made a horrible noise like something was clawing through before it turned on but worked great after it turned on. Breakfast wasn’t what I thought it would be but they do give you extended time and multiple options. All in all would absolutely stay again and would recommend.
