AVOID THIS HOTEL – $500 BOGUS SMOKING FEE SCAM! Google “M Social Smoking Fee Scam” and thank me later. We had a terrible experience at this hotel. Days after our stay, we were hit with a $500 smoking fee – completely fabricated. Neither I nor my companion smoke, and we have clear proof we weren’t even in the room at the time they claim the smoking happened. When we tried to dispute this with management, they were shockingly rude and dismissive, refusing to engage or even look at our evidence. Their only “solution” was to dispute it with our credit card company – an obvious brush-off, suggesting they’ve pulled this on guests before. To make matters worse, we later discovered we were also charged: -A resort fee we were never told about -Tax on the bogus smoking fee (seriously?) -An “optional donation” that we never agreed to Do yourself a favor: stay far away from M Social. There are plenty of honest hotels in the area that won’t try to scam you

Hotel was conveniently located. The check-in/check-out desk staff could use better training. They did not know that my reservation was paid in advance and that I had late check-out. There was uncomfortable situation where new guests entered room before our check out.

Clean and good location, not the most modern.

Our room was clean and comfortable but lacked some amenities thats are typical for this price range (smart outlets for phone charging, better tv remote). The halls smelled like old cigarettes and lacked trash cans (we noticed some people left trash outside their rooms that remained for hours). The downstairs lobby/ lounge was really fun, but wait for food at the outside lounge was extremely long (an hour for two appetizers) and food came cold. Overall the location is excellent, safe and clean and would consider booking again if I wanted to stay in Times Square/ theater district, but there are similar options for less cost.

We really enjoyed our stay at the M Social. The staff were really helpful. The hotel is also in a great location. The only negative was the admin charge that was added at the end. A complete (and nasty) surprise.

New Your Trip

Convenient location. Far enough from Time square to avoid the crowds, but close enough to walk. Close theaters, and close enough to central park that itis a short walk. Close to subway which gets anywhere.
