Great location, below average stay

The location was great and service staff were very friendly. However, there were a few issues that made this a below average experience: -The team member checking us in lacked personality and it really felt like we were an inconvenience to him. - I felt very uncomfortable in my room as the noise from the room next door made it feel like those guests were in our room. Even quiet talking could be heard not to mention bodily sounds and snoring. - The room seemed clean on the surface but on even you really started looking around you noticed that it really needed a deep clean. It’s clear that the cleaning staff are using the same rags to clean the ceiling in the bathroom as the toilet due to the amount of small hairs stuck on the ceiling.

Lovely hotel!

Lovely hotel, perfect for our girls trip to NYC! Staff were great and having a room with a balcony was an amazing addition! Good size room and finished to a high standard, only a couple of minor things that looked a bit worn - hooks on bathroom, scuffs on wall etc. Would recommend and would happily stay here again! Much better than other NYC hotels that we stayed at on this trip!

I stayed in a queen room with a private balcony and it was AMAZING! I cannot recommend enough. The balcony made the stay. The room was cozy and bigger than anticipated. Super great location as well! Will stay here again!

The location of the hotel is great. It's next to bus 42 and M15 so goining across town or up/down is easy. 10 min walk to Grand Central station where you can catch the train or subway. The hotel is old but well maintenanced. All the employees are very nice and provided fast service. One employee named Kevin is so nice and professional in making my check-in fast and convinient. He showed me how to setup my iPhone to pay OMNY. I have no problem to stay at this hotel again on next trip bck to Manhattan.

I have stayed with Westgate grand central twice. once in 2022 before renovations and now in 2025. Both times my experience has been average. customer service / hospitality both experiences has been below average. They are not welcoming and do not show any effort into making your stay pleasant. the bartenders are very rude- and front desk are very short with you like you are bothering them by checking in! Asked to keep luggage in storage as we arrived a bit earlier and was told no at first due to a big group coming in and then he said fine and took our luggage.. (?) asked for room accommodations and was told nothing could be done or changed. spoke with customer service about early check in and wasn’t accommodated. checking out early was the only time the staff seemed to be pleasant (figures! ) Can’t even tell any renovations we’re done as the rooms are the same in my opinion. just overall a very stale experience for what you’re paying to be treated like you are bothering them by staying here. just very non accommodating and not friendly. especially the bartenders who seem annoyed by just asking questions. Made the mistake by coming here again won’t ever come back unfortunately.
