It was a nice hotel for our first visit to NYC. I appreciated the location - easy to get to from LaGuardia. Walkable to Times Square in about 20 minutes. CVS within a few blocks to get snacks/drinks. Beds very comfortable. Front desk staff overall unfriendly but otherwise we had a nice stay.

Not worth the money. Firstly I’d like to say that we didn’t have any interaction with the staff (apart from check in), so this isn’t a reflection on their service but more on the hotel and room. I’d like to start off by saying we left a day early and checked into another hotel… I can only assume the renovations were done to the lobby because our room and hallway did not reflect those claims of a $20m upgrade. 1. The room was tiny (and yes we were given the size of the room), and going from the photos on the website, it’s very hard to judge the dimensions. Regardless, for two travellers with suitcases and hand luggage, there is simply just not enough room. 2. There was a lot of hair in the bathroom when we arrived (we got there at 2am, so plenty of time to clean). Pretty gross. 3. The air conditioning was so noisy, intermittently making a loud clunking noise, making it very difficult to sleep and stay asleep. The flashing green fire alarm didn’t help the sleep cause either. 4. The low ceilings made it feel very claustrophobic. We were on the 3rd floor but it felt like we were in the basement. 5. The view out of our windows were reminiscent of a Dickensian workshop; filthy, grey and soiled. 6. There was absolutely no natural light, I have video evidence of us leaving the room at midday, and we genuinely couldn’t see each other. On the plus side, if you’re a vampire, you will be in your element. Sadly I’ve run out of characters. Take heed and tread carefully.

We overall enjoyed our stay. We checked in and received a room with the air not working…maintenance came up and acknowledged this. The manager came and moved us to a nicer room and it did feel cooler. A few hours later this room was hotter than the original. We noticed for the remainder of the trip that there was no air in the lobby which included the restaurant and bar. I feel like if your air isn’t working then you communicate. We didn’t pay pennies to stay here. It was on average 78 in our room, the only break we got was when the temps dropped outside on our last 2 days. Otherwise yes we did love our stay. But we didn’t sleep very comfortably at all!

The staff were very nice and helpful. The location of the hotel is great, within walking distance of many Midtown attractions such as Times Square and easy access to Grand Central Terminal. The air conditioning in our room made loud banging noises sometimes. There was almost no natural light in our room since there’s tall buildings beside our window, but I imagine that is the situation with many NYC hotels.
