We stayed at Ocean El Faro from August 27th to September 3rd. Our check-in experience was very welcoming, and the staff treated us well upon arrival. We were told we would have an Expedia concierge, but it took about three days for him to finally connect with us. However, once we met our concierge, Kevin, he was a true blessing. He helped us with everything we needed and was fantastic at resolving any questions or issues we had.
The first room we were assigned had a very strong, unpleasant smell of humidity. We had to request a room change, and thankfully, they moved us. The new room came with a dehumidifier, which helped a lot with the odor. Aside from that, the rooms themselves feel a bit old and could use some maintenance or a renovation.
That said, the resort grounds and amenities are excellent. There are numerous restaurants and cafes, plus a great ice cream parlor. The food quality in the restaurants was consistently very good, and the coffee shop was our favorite spot. A general observation, however, was that the staff didn't seem very friendly. They rarely smiled and seemed tired from the large number of guests.
One of the biggest negatives for us was the constant pressure from the timeshare sales team. They were very insistent, to the point where they would try to make you feel like a victim to get you to listen to their pitch, which was uncomfortable.
In conclusion, the quality of the food and the excellent amenities make it a great value for the price.
