I will start this review by saying I would have rated The Frontenac higher had we not had daily bad experiences during our stay. We have stayed here numerous times before and have always had a lovely experience but during this stay there was one area that ruined our stay. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were surprised with a room upgrade upon check-in. The hotel is beautiful inside and out. The history is fascinating and an important part of Canadian history. Now the reasons I rated the hotel very poor. We were there for 3 nights and everyday we had a bad experience with their dining/bar staff. It wasn’t the wait staff themselves but the hosting staff. There are a group of 3 to 4 young women that act as “ Gate Keepers “ to the bar and restaurants. You can’t even step inside the bar without their permission. We have never experienced such a bizarre policy. The first night we wanted to enjoy a cocktail before heading to dinner. There were empty 4 tops in the bar but because we were only a party of 2 they would not allow us in just in case a party of 4 came in. She asked if we wanted to be put on the “wait list” for a table for 2. So she expected us to wait in the hall looking at empty seats in the bar. We asked to speak to a manager who apologized and sat us immediately. This problem continued daily with lunch at The Sam, empty tables and wanted us to come back 45 mins later. We had the same bar issue every night. We will not stay here again.

A MAGICAL STAY @ FRONTENAC

My wife and I were celebrating our 60th wedding anniversary and chose to spend 3 nights at Le Chateau Frontenac in Quebec. It was MAGICAL!! We had a beautiful suite, and world class service from arrival until departure. Thanks to all the staff for making our celebration so memorable. We made a wish on the stairs to return in 5 years. Staying at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac was a dream come true. The ambiance was everything I imagined it would be. Hospitality of the staff was absolutely wonderful. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. I am thankful for the opportunity to be a trivial part of Château Frontenac's glorious history. I will always stay at this hotel when I visit Quebec City.

A dream castle

An iconic property in the most beautiful spot of Quebec City. We took a deluxe room overlooking the boardwalk. Peaceful and nice. What we didn’t like was the substantial number of things-that-don’t-work-but-should-work. The website couldn’t take my booking, so I had to book through a third party. The spa website is clumsy and only a phone call works. The internet asks you for an Accor All number but the portal systematically refuses your All number. Ended up using my phone’s hotspot. Just not as easy or smooth as it should be at this price point.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities

The fourth floor ice machine is broken and water dispenser only dispenses lukewarm water on that floor. But apart from that the room and property was great. However the entrance area had construction going on right (April 21, 22, 2025) now so it is a bit chaotic.
