Only issue was no ground floor bathroom. After driving from a distance that was the highest priority and there was none. Lady at the desk gave me a key to the pool room so it worked out. LOL
Great hotel. Clean, roomy , comfortable . Good location close to mall and 2 restaurants attached . Was able to store luggage there after check out for a few hours. Would return.
This hotel is located close to the Avalon Mall and within walking distance of the Saturday farmer's market as well as several fast food places and some chain shopping shops ( e.g. Walmart/Dollarama). The lobby is beautiful and welcoming, the room was spacious and comfortable. The front desk staff were excellent and I especially appreciated one of them getting me some coffee set up as I left for my flight at 3 am. If you need a place to stay it is highly recommended.
Some of the things to note: the cleaning staff came VERY late in the day compared to other hotels I have stayed in (4:30 pm one day) and 3 out of 4 days they did a poor job (didn't refresh my soap and shampoo or towels), on the 4th day they were earlier and everything was replaced (like all other hotels do). So it probably had to do with which cleaning staff was on duty.
The pool and hot tub weren't the best. There were literally no chairs to sit on and it felt very dated compared to the rest of the hotel.
You are +6 km from the harbour front so you will need a car or an Uber (uber service was consistently amazing). I would say - if your main goal is to sample the local cuisine/pubs and do some of their amazing hailing trails - this isn't the ideal location for you. Something by the harbour front would make more sense.
I recently stayed at the **Sandman Hotel St. John’s** and was thoroughly impressed! From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming and attentive, ensuring a smooth check-in. The room was **spacious, clean, and modern**, with comfortable bedding and great amenities.
The **location was perfect**—close to downtown attractions, dining, and shopping, making it easy to explore the city.
I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to St. John’s! **10/10
The check in time was late and what was worse is the front desk said 5 minutes for inspection- no integrity. Place was just barely cleaned. We only stayed here as everything else was full. There is also a smell when you enter. Would not recommend- oh and you hear everything- there was an elephant on my head for 3 days.
