Strong points were convenient location, cleanliness, and quiet. It’s an older hotel and the furnishings are dates. TV reception was almost non existent.

Extremely run down and dingy, room is tiny, carpet and bathroom from the 70s (and we upgraded to the “deluxe” room). The mini fridge sits on the floor beside the bed. Essentially a flophouse charging downtown rates. Only redeeming quality is the location.

Great location--steps away from Pubs, restaurants, whale watching tours, harbour side walking trails etc. Older property, so no built-in A/C for those rare hot days (the portable unit in our room didn't work). Overall, a good choice for lower cost rooms in the heart of the city.

The rooms were just fine and a great deal. The one annoying thing was that the air conditioner made it so that you could not close the privacy shades all the way. We had to rig our own light blocking, which was not very effective, but necessary on the east-facing side of the building.

The property was in an okay location but the room was terrible and small. The room looked like it was an afterthought when constructed. Only a bar sink, no sink in the actual and very tiny bathroom. The bathroom was so small you almost had to step in the shower to close the door. No vents for air flow.. the room did have a small fan and windows that opened but no screens.. parking is a two block walk away. Not a long walk but it’s closed on the weekends and after 6 durning the week…and god help you if you need to get in past midnight… what a process, street closed so you have to park.. if there’s an open temporary parking spot.. and there’s not.. so you have to retrieve the parking lot pass from the front desk… located in the bowels of the building.. then walk back to your car and then drive the two blocks back to park.. then unload the luggage and lug them two blocks to the hotel… not ideal…then return the key, there’s a half hour limit to keeping the pass… not a great experience considering the cost.. no recommendations here.. sorry, not sorry.

We should have read the reviews more closely before we booked. There is an obvious problem with noise on the lower levels for sure. Our room was 1st floor and across the street was a pub who has a live band. We could see the drum set from our window! At 11:30 pm, my husband who wears hearing aids, but not to bed, had to go down to the front desk and they gave us ear plugs! These did not help. I need to mention that at check in, we did ask for a higher room but were told none available. Needless to say, the next morning we went to the front desk and asked again for another room or we were leaving. Low and behold, they had another room. We took a little time and with some luck found a lovely hotel who treated us so well, got a lovely clean quiet room and the rest of our holiday was wonderful. So we told the Bedford....no thanks! The room we had was strange as well. Sink in the bedroom etc etc sticky floors...I would seriously not recommend this hotel. I know they will reply with a, we are so sorry etc but really they are not! They are well aware of the concerns and do not address the issues. Location is not a selling point when there other great hotels which are located close to the city that have great service, clean rooms and care!

We had an extremely disappointing experience. The accommodations were unhygienic, and the staff was unhelpful and unfriendly. The room we were given had hair in the bathroom, a dirty toilet seat, and fingerprints all over the fridge. Despite sharing clear evidence of these unclean and unlivable conditions, the staff took no action that night. To make matters worse, instead of acknowledging their oversight or offering an apology, they charged us an upgrade fee for what was supposedly their best room. Shockingly, even in that upgraded room, the toilet flush wasn't working. Overall, this was a terrible experience. Poor hygiene, lack of basic service standards, and zero accountability. I would not recommend this place — not even for a short stay.

Loved being in the midst of downtown Victoria. If you like to walk this is the place to be as there is so much to see, to do and especially loved the food and drinking establishments. Hotel was clean and quiet. We will definitely stay again.

Close to many popular food and beverage options in the tourism core of Victoria. Hotel was tired looking. Booked a room with a "courtyard view." Was overlooking a dirty, unkempt rooftop.
