Great location and friendly staff, but the room was very small The hotel is in an excellent location, and the shared areas are pleasant and comfortable to spend time in. The staff was very friendly and helpful, which I truly appreciated. However, my room was tiny — it was hard to get by, especially with the shower. That made my stay less comfortable than I hoped.

Mom and daughter trip

Great service and one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The room is small and not a lot of privacy for the toilet and shower. Especially when sharing with your daughter, lol.

On the positive, rooms are very quiet, beds are huge, and the common lobby area very welcoming and comfortable. I like that bikes are available at no cost. However, Rooms are extremely small for 2 people, and the bathrooms are part of the room space itself. Toilet and shower are within glass pods and mostly in the way. Few amenities: no kettle, mini fridge, few outlets, tiny desk.

The location was very good. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast was very good. I really liked the chia pudding. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. I arrived very early in the morning and didn’t expect to be able to check-in at such early hour, but the staff kindly let me. I would like to stay here again.

Great for singles, easy transport links

Hotel chain with super-efficient rooms and modern vibe. Great for singles, need to be really comfortable with each other if two-some. Hotel has a great breakfast buffet with comfortable seating. This one is a short walk from the Zuid station for the train, metro and a tram line.

Great stay at citizen M

Location was great - 15 minute tram ride to the Van Gogh / Rijksmuseum, 20 minute metro ride to Centraal Station, near a busy commercial street with options for restaurants, cafes, and parks. The service was excellent and I felt right at home. If you're debating between staying in the Canal Ring vs. a little more on the outskirts, I recommend staying at citizen M - you get a better feel for daily Dutch life and the area is safer and not as touristy.

I stayed at this hotel for a few days and found the location unbeatable — just steps from metro and train stations, making getting around super easy. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, which added to the positive experience. Early check-in with no extra charge was a bonus. The room, while very compact, was suitable for a short stay and priced reasonably. However, a few things to flag: the shower rim needed more thorough cleaning, and the design meant you couldn’t avoid a burst of cold water when turning it on. Chromecast wasn’t working during my stay, and the daily room cleaning policy wasn’t clear — guests need to request it if needed. Also worth mentioning: the shower and toilet are inside the room, with only opaque glass separating them. It’s not a huge issue, but for couples on their first holiday together, the lack of true privacy might be a bit awkward

Citizen is generally a good option: convenience and nice food. Our experience however was through the lens of traveling with a service animal. Knowing that staff often is not familiar with service animals, we handed over documentation and inquired about specific rules the hotel may have. This went well. The receptionist went out of his way of sharing a photo of my daughter with her dog with colleagues. However, the next day my daughter overheard breakfast staff discussing merits of her service dog because it was neither a certain breed and too small in their opinion. She was standing in front of them but they hadnt recognized her. Talking in public about guests is never a good idea, and service animals come in different shapes and sizes. She told the staff members that, but it was an uncomfortable moment. People with service animals rely on their helpers for a reason, travel could be easier if staff was better trained on how to act in a respectful way in these situations.
