Poor room layout

The hotel is centrally located for exploring Amsterdam. The lobby and lounge were well decorated. We had a junior suite. The room had a poor layout. Very limited room for suitcases, etc. Bed was up a flight of stairs- very steep and dangerous. The shower was situated in the middle of the room with no privacy (clear glass shower door). We requested a different room but they were unable to fulfill our request. Unfortunately, affected our stay in Amsterdam.

Loved the small boutique atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Bar was unit not vegan so did not dine. Lived the little extras like flavored water and mints at front desk area. Great location. Very walkable to all

Enjoyed my stay at Hotel Mercier, good location and very cosy rooms with comfortable bed and soft bedding. Tasteful design and great dining room. Unfortunately the hotel would not accommodate my early arrival and I was left to sit in the lounge for most of the day. I was also a little disgruntled that people who arrived after me were being checked in whilst I was left with no room. I'd emailed prior so this was not good service. Would have happier customers if it tried to accommodate them more.

DECEPTIVE DISHONEST ,BAIT&SWITCH ADVERTISING

As seasoned travelers who have stayed in hotels across Europe, we have rarely encountered such a misleading, dishonest, and disappointing experience as we did at Hotel Mercier. First, we paid extra for a deluxe room, expecting a higher level of comfort. Instead, we were placed in a motel-style room outside the main hotel, where anyone walking by could see directly into our space. This was nowhere near the standard of a "deluxe" room and was blatantly misleading. When I requested to be moved, I was told the hotel was full and that I would have to wait until the next day—something that should have been disclosed upfront. Unfortunately, overnight, my husband became very ill, and we decided to fly home to New York a day early. I spoke with Lazlo at the front desk, who clearly assured me that the hotel would not charge us for the unused night as long as Hotels.com agreed to waive the cancellation fee. Wanting to confirm, I immediately contacted Hotels.com, and they confirmed they had no issue processing the refund—as long as the hotel honored their agreement. Lazlo had already assured me they would. However, after we checked out, Hotel Mercier blatantly denied this agreement, both to us and to Hotels.com. Hotels.com made multiple attempts to verify the information directly with the hotel, yet each time, Hotel Mercier refused to acknowledge what their own employee had promised. Instead, they dismissed the situation by saying Lazlo had made a mistake—completely disregarding the fact

I had such a lovely time at Hotel Mercier. The room was so quaint and well decorated and had lovely amenities including an electric tea kettle, nespresso with four pods, and a marshal speaker! The neighborhood is also very nice but note it is one of the pricier neighborhoods in Amsterdam. Perfect for walking around with cute little shops and very close to tourist attractions like the Anne Frank museum & the 9 streets. Highly recommend staying here!

Should be better for the price range

This is generally my go to hotel at Amsterdam but this time we did not feel very welcome. The personnel has a very strict attitude. And for this price range and for people on vacation it's not the right approach. From now on I'll think twice. The design and the space of the rooms are Ok, they are clean. They are getting a little old though. There is no mini bar or room service. For this price range they definitely should have those. The bar and the restaurant downstairs saves the day. The location is great.

Only stayed for the night but had the best experience! Hotel was beautiful! The staff are very friendly. When we arrived earlier in the morning, the staff let us leave our bags while we explored the city until it was time for our room to be ready. When we came back to check-in again our bags were already placed into our rooms so we didn’t have to worry about carrying them to the room. I was also celebrating my birthday but never told the staff but they must have looked at my passport when i checked in because when i entered our room they placed balloons and beautiful note on the bed wishing me a happy birthday. Which was really sweet of them! Beds were comfort and clean. Rooms are beautifully decorated. Check out was smooth and when asked for a last minute taxi to the airport they were able to get one in less than 10 minutes. Overall i highly recommend Hotel Mercier! Will be using them again next time I’m in Amsterdam!

Wow. Best location IMO. Close and reasonable grocery nearby. Fred Heijn. Accommodating and friendly staff. Upgraded us and we are so very thankful 🙂 Next to Anne Frank Huis and incredible dining options and shopping. Don’t hesitate to book.
