Budget friendly hotel in a great location. Rooms are a little worn but clean

Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly. Concierge was helpful when we had need of something. Rooms are spacious but a little worn down (black stains on the corner of the shower, pink stains on the bathroom walls). Bed sheets had some stains on them and our room wasn't cleaned on a cleaning day. Location was just outside of the hustle and bustle of Bourbon St but close enough to walk everywhere.

Overall nice, historical hotel. Rooms are smaller and bed was less comfy. Restaurant, bar and music were nice. Location is best.

We have stayed at fhe FMI for decades because I love the location, courtyard and general ambiance. This stay was inconvenient because of the location of the room which, if I am honest, I never was able to find on my own. The bathroom was very small and the shower doors were or a bizarre type that caused the room to be flooded before we could get to the shower head and readjust it to spray the wall only. The courtyard, while beautiful as always would have benefited by outdoor heaters as would the pool. All that said it is a beautiful property if you like historic and slightly spooky.
