Great trip with some miscommunications but over al

I got in at 9am because I paid for early check in, however they said it wasn’t approved so I had to wait until 3pm to get a room. That’s pretty ridiculous. If you guys didn’t offer early check in I would understand. Overall experience was great. There is a huge hidden fee 330 usd if you meet someone and bring them to the resort. That should be more transparent.

I stayed at Dreams Karibana Cartagena from July 26, and unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating and unacceptable. From the moment we arrived, we encountered cleanliness issues in our room—unpleasant odors, dusty furniture, dirty mirrors, and a general lack of maintenance. The kids’ pool area was slippery and filthy, with no signage, nearly causing a dangerous fall for my pregnant wife. The restaurant service was slow and inconsistent. Staff often ignored basic requests, and we had to serve ourselves coffee most mornings. Traveling with a toddler, we were surprised that high chairs were rarely offered or even available, making every meal unnecessarily stressful. One particularly appalling moment was when my daughter accidentally dropped my burger, and the staff simply brought back the same burger with sand still on it. The manager insisted it had been replaced, despite clear evidence to the contrary. We also missed our scheduled shuttle to the walled city due to poor communication. I was promised a confirmation call before 3 PM—no call came. When I followed up at 3:03 PM, I was told the shuttle had already left. The manager was dismissive and blamed us for the misunderstanding. We came here for rest and quality family time, but instead, this trip has been filled with stress and disappointment. I cannot recommend this resort and strongly urge management to review their training, communication, and service standards.

I had a fantastic experience at Dreams Karibana Resort in Cartagena! From start to finish, everything was smooth and enjoyable. The check-in process was quick and easy, making me feel welcome from the start. The staff provided exceptional customer service, always friendly, attentive, and willing to help with anything I needed. The food was absolutely delicious, with a variety of options to choose from, and every meal felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. My room was immaculately clean and comfortable, creating the perfect environment to relax after a day of exploring. Another highlight was the convenience of getting around—both within the resort and to the city. Transportation was easy to arrange, and the location made it simple to enjoy all that Cartagena has to offer. After staying in its related resort Secrets in Mexico, I was sharply disappointed with the amenities and design of the hotel. This hotel doesn’t do much well, food, service, and appearance is average. It also appears there’s certain aspects of the resort that still have paint that are in blotches along the walls in the VIP/Preferred Club. The drinks are also very watered down in comparison to Secrets in Mexico. The food at dinner and breakfast also left much to be desired. the potential is there, but this resort doesn’t scream luxury despite being in relation to Secrets. I would not recommend.

Staff and service were great. Place loses power at least once a day. Albeit for a short period, it’s still inconvenient.

Our first family vacation after having our first baby was a success here at Dreams in Cartagena. The service was the best part of it all. All staff was very friendly. The premier lounge and spa teams were the most helpful for us. The premier lounge team was always there to assist with our needs. The spa team made some wonderful exceptions for my wife and I to enjoy their services, regardless of having the baby with us.
