So peaceful

The hotel is within the University. I believe it's normally student accommodation but rooms are let to outsiders in holiday times. The people at reception could'nt have been more helpful. Very welcoming. Im sure theres usually a buzz here but when I stayed, it was almost serene. The setting is in a beautiful wooded area which is quite calming. Also, its a short taxi ride from the airport. A great place to stay.

The staff were all very welcoming, it was a big facility that had a big parking lot (which was nice), it was gated, it had a magnificent breakfast, and it was secluded and quiet. We really enjoyed our stay, and wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Extraordinary hotel, close to Dresden Intl Airport

This beautiful, modern hotel is a real gem! They're not part of a large hotel chain, and most of their business comes from conventions. But if they have a room for you, grab it! The rooms are fantastic, with a large, comfortable king-size bed. They also have a wonderful high-end spa with 3 top-of-the-line saunas, which you have to see to believe (available for an additional fee of just 5 Euros, which includes the use of a bathrobe and plush towel). The restaurant & bistro serve great German food at very reasonable prices (I ate at the bistro, which was superb and informal). The front-desk personnel are incredible. When was the last time you had a wake-up call from a pleasant, live person instead of an automated robo alarm? I selected this hotel because it's a short cab ride to Dresden International Airport. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to find it was so much more.

Very good hotel

We spent two nights at Akademiehotel on our way to and from Italy - we decided to return to it because we were really satisfied with our experience. The things we appreciated most (but not only) were a large, free parking lot, a comfortable bed, overall cleanliness, silence, and breakfast. The only thing that was missing for me was a kettle in the room but it is just a detail. All in all, if we ever travel to or from Dresden again, it is highly likely we will stay at this hotel again.

No Mobile Phone Service = NO INTERNET SERVICE

This hotel's policy is to have you jump thru multiple hoops to then enter the number of a working mobile phone to receive access codes via SMS message to then enter int o a web browser window. THERE IS NO PLAN B when you have only a US-based cell phone that doesn't get service abroad. Is this the old East German secret service's method's for tracking foreigners? We highly recommend staying with a US-based chain hotel to avoid such issues. Room: Clean & not very comfortable Staff: Unyielding in assisting allowing me internet access, also women front desk staff are self-depricating, stating they are only women and don't know about technical (or other) things. We felt we were dealing with Breakfast: Decent fare of hot & cold items, plus beverages & whole and cut up fruit.

Perfect for transit

Modern and clean hotel, helpful staff. The sauna area was very nice after driving the whole day. Located in a quiet area with tram connections to the city center. Close (ca. 1 km) to the highway, good choice for transit travelers.

Poor signals, poor bed

The wifi system is complicated and terrible, no cell phone signal in rooms, the bed is cheap and uncomfortable. All other aspects were good. Good wifi in a hotel is critical and this one was the worst I've seen in all my world travels.
