Pleasant stay, easy parking in front of the hotel, quick and easy check in from friendly staff. Clear instructions were given on the layout of the hotel, where all the facilities were, opening times of restaurants etc. Room was clean, bed was very comfortable but the bathroom was cramped and in need of updating (old shower over bath design).

A little tired

Location and hotel were beautiful but the room was a little tired. Holes in the curtain lining that allowed the sun to shine through in the morning, bottom of the bathroom door showed extensive wear and tear, fittings around the taps on the bath were loose and initially the fridge didn’t work. For the price would not have expected this. Location and first impressions were amazing

Delightful 2 night stay.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay. Our room was a junior suite and it was the best size for us as a family. We were very lucky to be upgraded to this room. The hotel was very clean, the food was at breakfast was very tasty and a hit with our 4 year old too! She enjoyed the grounds, especially the play park. It’s a beautiful hotel situated in a lovely location. The best part- the staff! Every member we came across from the staff at reception, the restaurant and maintenance were so friendly and kind. We had a great stay and can’t wait to come back again soon. Thank you ☺️

Wonderful location in the country. We were able to walk down the driveway to get a direct but into Edinburgh. The only minor downside was the many sets of stairs to move through the building.

This is a fine stately home and country club /golf club set in an expansive mature estate. It is convenient for Edinburgh. The rooms are in newer buildings and are very comfortable and well-appointed. The restaurants and lounges are in the old building and are classically luxurious. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly.

We stayed here one night on a whistlestop tour of Scotland. If you're a golfer, this is your kind of place. For a travelling family probably not so much. The rooms were comfortable and quiet, the building and facilities were well presented but the signage in the corridors to help you navigate the property was very confusing and we got lost a few times. We did have a fire alarm go off but I was happy to see someone walking around with blankets to make sure that people were warm enough as there was a chill in the air.

Lovely location with a short drive into the city. The hotel itself is lovely on first approach, however the maze like corridors where the rooms are situated get tiresome. The amount of times we got lost finding our way to and from the leisure centre or dining rooms was ridiculous. Benefit of the leisure centre access was nice and the pool was lovely and warm. I don’t think as a family of three that we would stay again, for the price we will look elsewhere as I felt it didn’t live up to expectations.

Very nice hotel, lots to see around the property. Rooms were quiet and clean. The only downside and the reason this review isn’t 5 stars is that they removed the hot tub.
