A+. A great boutique-like hotel/motel. Room 111 in the motel is nice and clean. Very cute, like a mini studio apartment. A goid place to stay overnight for physicians appointments in Chicago.

Great location, nice neighborhood

We arrived in Chicago early, and the hotel was willing to hold onto our luggage until check-in time so that we could explore the neighborhood. The staff were friendly and courteous. I appreciated the extra pillows and blanket in the closet. The hotel was quiet, and the attached pub is excellent. The location is great and conveniently located.

Cool old building. Very quiet. Free off street parking!!! Large, clean room. Close to the green line, but that stop is a little sketchy with a small homeless camp set up there. Our only complaint about the hotel was that the AC didn’t work. We would stay here again on future trips.

The hotel was fine, nothing fancy, but the friendly staff, location, walkable neighborhood, proximity to the Frank Lloyd Wright home, and the convenient access to the city via public transportation made this place a bargain! We would like to stay there again.

Overall nice stay

Overall nice stay. Room was fairly clean although there was hair in the tub. The bathroom door had a hard time staying closed and squeaked so loud. Walls are thin but it is an old building. Bed was super firm, so if that's your thing you'll like it. Me being a side sleeper it was a bit hard.

We stay there when we come to take my granddaughter to shriners hospital. It is clean and safe neighborhood. Parking is with room. Nice shopping within walking distance. Restaurants near and in motel.

Bait and switch? Dirty and unkept ghost hotel

This hotel is in a state of disrepair, which soon became evident after arrival. Firstly, they informed us that the elevator was broken when we checked in. We were on the second floor, no big deal, but this foreshadowed what was to come. When we got to the room, my brother said there was a clump of hair on his bed. I also noticed that my sheets looked dirty and had some crud on them. There was a sign on the table that said due to staffing shortages, housekeeping would be limited during our stay. This is a nice way of saying that nobody is cleaning the rooms. We didn't see a single other person while we were there (one afternoon and night), not a visitor or staff. The floor was filthy, the furniture and fixtures looked like they hadn't been touched since the place was built. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable, punctuated by numerous pillows that offered no support. Our A/C didn't blow cold air and there was no fan in the room, so we had to sweat it out for the one night we stayed. We decided to leave the next day. No water fountain, so I went to the lone drink machine, which didn't have a card reader so it must have been ancient. It said $1, and after feeding a dollar, the screen said $2. I hit return and got a quarter back. That's when I knew it was time to go. Also in that hallway was an ATM that wasn't working. Everything was broken and dirty. There were no amenities. Do you think they'll ever fix the elevator? Don't stay here, it is just bad.

I stayed here 1 night in the motel (room 111). It was very reasonably priced, quiet, safe, clean and my husband who is mobility impaired, and uses a cane, had no difficulty walking from the rear parking lot to our nearby room. For dinner we walked to the Italian restaurant (also nearby) located near the hotel lobby and had a delicious meal! This will now be our overnight place for health related appointments (only 25 mins. to UIH) and baseball games. We will definately be back!

The Carlton is an older hotel with nicely appointed rooms. If I had one complaint, it would be that the toilet in our room was very small and low. For older folks like ourselves it's difficult to get up and down off of. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay here and the Italian restaurant which adjoins the hotel is not to be missed!

Small, quaint hotel in the heart of Oak Park. Well maintained and very clean and neat. The Italian restaurant, La Notte was fantastic, both in food and service. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
