The entire building could do with modernising The TV’s need upgrading, wasn’t able to use the screen mirror function and not able to use apps on tv as they were too old Carpet in my room was wet from a leaking fridge Decor was outdated Building was undergoing work and the trades were noisy

Pool, spa, tennis/basketball court all closed. Reception staff rude. Turned away from breakfast buffet that was paid for. Bathrooms of very poor quality, falling apart. Balcony railing wobbly - on the 18th floor. Sign in room advising not allowed to use balcony or have balcony door open due to cyclone, but retained stupid rules for a week unnecessarily

Location was unbeatable and the food was good but the most disappointing thing was that the pool was not operating. Room service was also mostly absent. Just getting clean towels and such but no actual cleaning of the room.

Great value and location. I stayed at Novotel for 1 night when Tropical Cyclone Alfred made it to land. The hotel is very outdated. The lighting is poor at the restaurant and hall ways to get to your room. It feels like I’ve time travelled back 30 years ago. In saying that, I did not feel the hotel room was dirty at all; it was clean. The ‘Family room’ bathroom is tiny though and felt very claustrophobic. I believe they have renovation plans in place already, and looking forward to seeing the new Novotel.

Umm Hi Don't normally write bad reviews, just never go back. None of the issues listed below were raised with staff with exception of the faulty room lock. I have however sent a copy of this review to Accorn before publishing. Now where to start? - Fire alarm screaming "EMERGENCY EMERGENCY" at 2.00am in the morning. I joined a small group of neighbouring guests and evacuated using the fire stairs. Spoke to attending fire crew and was cleared to re-enter. Concierge and security on the other hand was in complete disarray. Fire drill and training maybe? - Locked out of room a couple of days later. Locking mechanism needed fresh set of batteries. - Water leaking from the sealing blocking one entry to the ground floor restaurant. - Lifts out of order. - Big stain on the carpet in the outside passage near my door. - Sliding robe door faulty. Very difficult to open and close. - Swimming pool open times restricted due to building fascia works.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Novotel. My room had a view of tall buildings in the front, the beach to the right and the canals to the left. Big thanks to the receptionist who greeted me on arrival (can’t remember his name but he’s from Brazil) 🌈
