Unique character with super friendly and helpful staff. Great location, easy to walk to the centre , just minutes away. This is Cuban with limited food in the country as a whole, so expect this reflectwd in the breakfast options (and in all restaurants in the country). Good place to stay if you want an authentic experience.

We stayed here as a step up from the casa particulars and hostals we stayed in earlier in the trip - we were homeward bound. THis is a hostal (small hotel) rather than private house. It was a step up in terms the room and bathroom (large and clean) and indeed the breakfast was great and the team very helpful - all speak good English. The breakfast is very instagram friendly and very tasty. We weren't quite sure about the cake served in a scallop shell, sitting on a tripod! You get the idea... The only thing we didn't like was the road/area where it is located, as its pretty dirty and a bit noisy - although much quieter late at night. As mentioned, we were already familiar with Havana and Cuba by then, but even then this area felt a little too edgy. It is very well located to access the tourist areas, main squares, government buildings and local shops/China town. However, like lots of/most of Old Havana and Central, many buildings are falling down and streets very littered and dirty. Not a reason to stay away, but be aware. Note, other casas and hostals have the same issue.

A delightful hotel and exceptionally helpful staff

Balcones deserves six points out of five on every count: it was absolutely excellent! The place was charming and well located, and the staff were all brilliant. They were charming, helpful, friendly, and well informed, and not at all pushy. They offered as much contact as you wanted but were always ready with help or just for a chat.

Stayed here 4th January 2025 ,its a complete GEM you will not be disappointed at all staying here. Incredibly welcoming & helpful with anything needed and tendered by Jorge, Adrian Thuram. Richard has beautifully designed,decorated all rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. Everyone so friendly the food was always delicious and cooked fresh by lovely Luisandra & Milagros spotlessly cleaned by Jordania.This place exceeded our expectations the neighbourhood is very safe with the location made it easy to explore the City, With true authentic Cuban vibes. Such a lovely stay. Breakfast is lovely, the bar makes amazing drinks. Super safe neighbourhood. Walking distance to lots of nice eateries. The staff were so lovely, speak multiple languages and went out if their way to help.

The staff here were incredible - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was great, as was the bar in the evening. We had our first mojito out of a teapot - definitely to be recommended! Great hotel, great experience!

We lives out trip to Havana and especially at Hostal Balcones Muralla. Jorge was great at welcoming us and making us comfortable. He also was great with this restaurants recommendations. He made us feel comfortable and gave us good tips about the city. The staff was always nice with us and wanting to help. Breakfast was a great experience. Nothing fancy but very tasty. The neighborhood was great too. We felt we were part of the real Havana life. It was a bit noisy at night but if you are light sleeper, bring some earplugs. We feel it’s the case in every parts of the city and only the 5 stars conventional hotels would be quieter. We loved our experience and we will recommend it to all our for friends.

The staff at this Hostal were exceptional. They were incredibly helpful and attentive. We particularly enjoyed the New Years Eve party on the roof terrace. The rooms were very clean and the breakfasts very enjoyable. The Hostal was manned 24/7 by either Jorges, Torah or Adrian all of whom went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one. The property is a few blocks from The Plaza Vieja which is a central point in the old town so very convenient for everything. The property is decorated in the the Art Deco period with many features from this period. One of the properties owners - Richard was very helpful with our personal arrangements. Highly recommend.

I loved that the breakfast option was at any time wanted not at a specific hour .. the area is very safe and close to every tourist attraction as well. 10/10 experience, they offer great service , pick up and drop off from and to the airport or any other place you want to go to ! An incredible place, in easy walking distance of the Capitol building and most of the areas of interest within Old Havana. Breakfast was wonderful and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were the highlight with everyone being so helpful - we had our luggage lost by the airline and the staff went out of their way to help us with clothes, toiletries and even money! Couldn't thank them enough and would definitely stay again.

This charming hostal (really a boutique hotel) gave us an authentic taste of old Havana. It has a quirky, unique style with a lovely bar and balconies. We stayed here at the beginning and again at the end of our stay, so got to know the staff well. They were all incredibly friendly and endlessly helpful, making recommendations, booking taxis, transfers, changing money and answering all our questions. Jorge in particular was always around to help us in every way he could. We stayed in a small but comfortable room first then splurged on the suite on the upper floor, which was definitely worth the price. Both rooms had reliable WiFi, and a/c. We loved Cuba and when we go back to Havana we would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the whole team at Balcones Muralla.

The location is great for walking around Old Havana. The staff was truly wonderful, someone was always there to greet you the a smile. Prepared lovely meals and happy to sit and share information and recommendations around Havana. The decor perfectly combines antiques as art.
