Before booking this hotel I researched its ratings. I was checking it out based on convenience, but convenience does not override the ability of getting a good nights sleep. I was happy to see it it had a 9.8 rating. Now having stayed there, I am shocked it didn't get a 10 rating from everyone. This is the most wonderful place I have ever stayed in (and I have stayed in some $500/night places). My advise to you is to stop scrolling and just BOOK THIS PLACE. It is perfect. It will have whatever you need or want. I know this to be true because we arrived with nothing but the shirts on our back--no toothbrush, pajamas, etc. The room had it all, besides being downright beautiful and ultra-modern. They spoke perfect english. Their kindness was overwhelming. Once again, you can stop scrolling and JUST STAY HERE.

We love this hotel! This is our second stay, and it has been just as wonderful as the first. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, the staff are extremely friendly, and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto.

The room we stayed in was really beautiful, with lacquered furniture and breakfast trays. It was also very spacious. The hotel is very well located in the heart of Gion, surrounded by many sights and restaurants.

The property is conveniently located in walking tourist areas (Gion district, shopping areas, etc), Seven Eleven store is a few steps away. Breakfast is served in the room either Japanese breakfast style or Western breakfast style. I liked Japanese breakfast style. Staff speaks English, professional, friendly, and helpful. There are complimentary personal hygiene items (hairbrush, razor, toothpaste, toothbrushes, face masks, etc). I like the shower, the location of the property, many restaurants/shops in walking distance

So glad we booked this hotel. Location was perfect. Not far from train and bus stations and easy to take cab. Plenty of food choice and great options nearby. The hotel offers daily cleaning as well, which is rare for Japan. Even our Japanese friends came to join us and stayed at the same hotel were impressed. Service was excellent and no issue in communication. We had our luggage sent via agent and it reached before us. The hotel staff nicely put it before we arrived and gave us an early check in. Highly recommended the hotel.

I just left Hotel Alza and already miss it. We stayed in numerous hotels during our vacation in Japan and hotel Alza was by far the best one. The room was spacious, especially by Japanese standards, bed soft and comfortable, bathroom with jazuzi tub, warm and friendly staff. I absolutely loved their pajamas. I didn't know what to expect from a 2-star hotel but it definitely surpassed my expectations. It felt like a 5 star hotel. They provided welcome snack, shaving razors, face sheet masks, mouthwash, all the things that other 5 star hotels didn't provide. Location was fantastic, convenient to major sightseeing points. Kyoto has a ton of hotels to choose from, but I would definitely return to this one.

Great property, service, location, all the amenities, (unless you want gym/pool/restaurant). Breakfast in room was great. Only complaint, our room had some windows without blackout treatments, but an eye mask solved that easily. Would stay again!
