This hotel was in the perfect location, close to shops and the vibrant Nishiki Market, which was a highlight of my visit to Kyoto. The location is excellent, as it’s also not far from the city’s famous temple attractions. It made exploring Kyoto so convenient and enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!
This is a very nice place to stay in a pretty decent location! Sanjo train station is a 6 minute walk and there are plenty of shops and restaurants surrounding the hotel.
Two warnings: because it's located around some main streets, the evening and night get pretty loud. Multiple times a night there will be motorcycles and cars revving their engines incredibly loudly so make sure to bring earplugs!
Second warning: the hotel rooms (in winter) are very hot. There's a thermostat in the room that controls your own climate unit, but the one in your room is connected (somehow) to every other room too. This means that even if you want the "cool" or "fan" setting, it will still blow out hot air. Good news, you can kind of open the window and you can request a big fan as well. (This was a lifesaver for us because we're from Canada and usually sleep in colder temperatures).
The hotel staff are really kind and accommodating! They helped us with everything before we arrived and during our stay 🙂 great amenities available in the lobby too
Will be staying here again in the future
This hotel seems new as a lot of the taxis did not recognize the name but still took is there. We were in the middle of a ton of things and could walk for hours. The washer and dryer situation was way better than in Tokyo!
Room was nice and clean but the street light was too bright to sleep at night.
The sound from outside was quite loud at night.
Stayed 2 nights, towels and tea was replaced but used tea cups were not. Maybe we supposed to wash ourselves? Not a big deal, overall we were happy with our stay😊
Always well-staffed. The rooms are very small, and one night it became clear not that sound-proofed (we knocked on the next door and asked them to quiet down and then it was fine), but there's a lot of table space in the lobby to spread out when you need to. Everything else is totally workable, clean. Location is great, next to Kawaramachi and Teramachi, between metro station and tons of buses.
I love Hotel Gran M's Kyoto because it's extremely affordable, the staff is great and the location can't be beat! My favorite thing to do on vacation is to travel somewhere and (sort-of) live in the place that I am staying. Shopping, eating, resting and watching movies in my room are my favorite things to do. So I upgraded my room here so I had two beds and could spread out. It's was the best stay during Christmas. I hung out Christmas Eve and painted (I brought my supplies) and took pics with Santa. They had a photo "booth" and really made Christmas special. I was by myself and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy.
