The room itself was clean and comfortable, but the staff was overwhelming sometimes. When going to the reasturants they try very hard to upcharge you for the more expensive food option or to add alcohol, it felt pushy as I had to say no a few times which is not great for a 5 star hotel. Also it was raining and I came prepared with my own umbrella, but because it was similar color the staff kept trying to take it from me demanding I return it. It made me feel like they thought I was stealing and each time I returned from a walk I got harassed about the damn umbrella, again not something I expect from a 5 star hotel.

Our first trip to Japan. We stayed at Brighton for the full 10 days. The room was large enough and comfortable for three without us feeling like we were on top of one another. Staff was always available and easy to communicate with even though none of us spoke more than three words in Japanese. It was the small things in the room that we enjoyed. The tea and the electric kettle. The glassware provided. Our daughter gave high praise to the quality of the matcha provided with all of the tools needed to make it properly. We enjoyed the large bathroom. The shower and tub were especially appreciated after full days of walking in the humid heat of Kyoto. Brighton made for us a great home base as we explored Kyoto and Osaka.

The room was spotless and comfortably accommodated four guests. This was easily the best hotel we stayed at during our trip to Japan. The staff were incredibly courteous and went out of their way to help. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

We stayed here for 6 nights. The hotel is in an excellent condition, clean, roomy, with friendly staff. I have zero complaints about the hotel. The only thing for me was that there weren’t many dining options around the hotel.
