BEST PLACE EVER

We came here for our 25th anniversary celebration and it was exquisite! The property is GORGEOUS, the rooms are spacious, the facilities are so clean, and none of the rooms face a dumpster or parking lot. It is heaven!

I come to Kauai often and each time I stay at The Royal Sonesta. Each and every visit I consistently receive excellent service from every employee. The room is always beautiful, clean and well stocked. If I need anything, the staff is always prompt even if when my request is not urgent. I could go on and on about every positive but there is a character limit. : ) The only “negative” is the fact that I have to go home. From the beautiful island of Kauai to the great Royal Sonesta, it is honestly difficult to leave. That’s why my visits have been closer & more frequent.

The property is beautiful - many manicured gardens with ponds and fountains. The pool area was large with plenty of chairs to relax, where you could also order food. There was a large beach area with volleyball nets as well as a separate pool for kids that had a slide. We took advantage of all of the dining options. There is another restaurant just up the hill, Hualani's, that was outstanding. Our last night, we enjoyed some delicious sushi and saki, probably one of our favorite dining experiences. When we first arrived, we found food that had been left in our mini fridge by a previous guest. It wasn't the best first impression, but the front desk sent someone up right away to take care of it. And the rest of our stay, there were no other issues. Overall, we loved the property and the island of Kauai.

Great hotel, but not 5 stars

Great hotel, Balcony view was amazing, bed was comfortable, and stocked with plenty of water, but this did not feel 5 star.. The towels were older and threads were falling out. There were no bath accessories like shaver, shower cap, etc that you get with a 5 star hotel. The hotel also said they did not have bowls/plates which was really odd for when we had ordered takeout.

We enjoyed a great stay at RS. The property was spread out and gave the feeling of being private and less crowded despite it being President’s week. The beach chairs, towels were a bit tired but in general the experience was overall quite relaxing and enjoyable. We asked to change our room to more quiet location and that accommodated us without hesitation. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Parking is a bit of a walk unless you are lucky enough to get a space next to tower ( which we were everytime). Would highly recommend also because location was easy from airport and to travel anywhere on island.

The Sonesta was really lovely and we had a great room with an ocean view. My only complaint would be its location so close to the airport. During the day, so many helicopters made their way to their tours and no amount of water features could storm out the noise. I would still stay there again as they had every thing: beautiful pool, great beach and the dining options the bar by the pool was great. Loved the nightly music.

We booked this trip last minute without my normal research and just booked it on a whim since the pool looked great in the photos and we were traveling with kids. I was blown away! Such a wonderful resort, Dukes was delicious and had a great vibe for dinner, the property was clean and everyone was friendly. It's one of those places that the lobby smells "rich" and fancy. Loved the open air walkways and wish I liked sushi because that set up was beautiful. If I were to micro complain about anything was the fact the bathroom doors didn't lock. Which is a little awkward depending on who you're traveling with, and the breakfast while good was VERY expensive on property $160 for 4 orders of pancakes and 4 juices after tip. We LOVED our stay and would recommend to anyone.

A large, beautiful resort that requires a lot of walking. Some may prefer a smaller, more intimate experience but we came to appreciate the elegance for the size. We loved being able to hear the lovely performance of the guitarist/vocalist floating out on the evening air across the pools and gardens to serve two restaurants as well as the evening swimmers and strollers.
