The staff at National Hotel were surprisingly rude, unhelpful and tried to over charge us for food and drink items and only reversed the charges when we pointed them out on the menu. Worst service I’ve had in any hotel I have stayed at and we often go to high-end hotels. There were prostitutes everywhere on the property as well, and it was clear that men regularly brought them to the property or they were provided by the property. Stay somewhere else.

The staff makes this property special. I felt very welcome upon check in. The pool and dining options are very good. The beach and the service on the beach is also very nice. Our room was a little small but a great location with a nice view of the pool. We were upgraded to a cabana room which I recommend. Food at the hotel is comparable to other nearby establishments. Loved the açaí bowl for breakfast. One tiny thing I noticed, our sheets were a little pilly. Time for replacements there. I still rate a 5 because of the excellent attitude and service of the staff

One of the last of the early art deco hotels. Still a pleasant adults only experience. Could use more chaises and better umbrellas around the pool. Restaurants are a bit understaffed, but most employees are friendly and helpful. About as central as one can get on South Beach. Lincoln Road is 1/2 block away. Our 7th floor corner room was lovely, with a comfortable king size bed and walk-in closet.

PROS: Beautiful hotel with amazing views. From the moment we got there felt like vacation. Huge pool and direct beach access. The staff at the beach were extremely helpful and accommodating, especially Elijah and Gigi. The food at the beach was absolutely spectacular, the cerviche was some of the best I've ever had. And the food at the hotel restaurant Mareva was outstanding. Go for the chef's tasting- it is worth it! CONS: Major cons are the added fees. I hate add on fees and would rather hotels just be up front about the cost of the stay. There is a $50 resort fee per day as well as a $50 parking fee per day. Really upped the cost from what I was expecting. Also given the price I was surprised they didn't have app services available on the TV, only Netflix, which I don't have an account for so couldn't watch TV, had to watch on my phone. I also have a problem paying extra for the "resort fee" when features aren't available. For example, we didn't get to use the pool chairs that are included in the fee; they ran out of room. The staff was very gracious about it, and the beach was amazing. But the principle... OVERALL: Would recommend. The amenities, the food, the whole experience are great, just be mindful the price is actually $100 more a day between the resort fee and parking. If I had been psychologically prepared for that it wouldn't have bothered me as much.
