Place is OK ...but

This "hotel" is not the regular type where you get personalized customer service and greeting personnel at the lobby. This Sonder hotel was strictly by Sonder App communication. We had an issue with our TV that was not connecting to the "Chromecast" app, which is the only method of streaming from your phone/tablet to the TV. It took them almost 2 days to get someone to our unit to "fix" this, but he could not either so by the end of the stay we finally had regular TV channels. Your check-in and check-out are also with the App, charging extra for early/late check-in/check-out. Overall, the place is nice, very modern and has ample rooms with a kitchen and full-size appliances. The living room couch has a sofa bed, and this specific location is at the heart of Tempe Downton and ASU activities, lots of restaurants, bars and shops just within walking distance. The rooms are in tall tower apartments, with Whole Foods store below for all your wines, beers, snacks, and other essentials. If you don’t get bothered to this type of hotel where there is no personal approach and you are willing to deal with the app to read all instructions to park, security, check-in, check-out this is a place for you. For us it was not a pleasant experience and for the price of the rooms they could do much better than what we got.

The check-in process and communication was terrible. It took us over an hour to figure it out. For example, you have to find the locker with the keys. Yes, it's in the email that nobody reads. It'd be easier using app on the phone.

Loved this location. Having a Whole Foods downstairs from us was a little bit like a dream. We also loved having the bright kitchen and the in-room laundry. The unit we had was a tiny bit cramped because there is a concrete pillar in the bedroom. That caused the bed to be placed in an awkward position that provided narrow passage to the right side of the bed, and on the other side, to the bathroom and master closet. For a short stay, this was tolerable but as a longer term living arrangement, that would be irritating. We loved the TV that allowed us to Chromecast our favorite videos onto the big screen. That provided us a comfortable and pleasant evening and made us happy. On the other hand, we absolutely hate the new style in beds that has the frame extend beyond the edges of the mattress. This is a shin banging hazard, and with the awkward placement of the bed, it had an impact on repeated occasions. For this unit in particular, it might be a good idea to opt for a more traditional style of bed that is less likely to leave bruises. Overall, we loved the room, had a good time, and would recommend the property to a good friend who is planning to stay in the area.

It was a nice apartment with ample parking, Whole Foods right below it, and lots of dining and shopping options within walking distance, as well as the ASU campus close by.

The Sonder apartment set-up was nice but communication and assistance with staff was lacking. We had a water leak through the bathroom ceiling which was a major inconvenience for 2 days. The leak was eventually repaired and the bathroom was cleaned and a large fan was left in the bathroom to dry out the space. Sonder made no offer to transfer us to another room or to compensate us for our inconvenience. I had requested to speak with a Sonder manager multiple times to provide feedback but was never contacted.

This place has so much potential. Great location, decent amenities. The abundance of air fresheners makes you wonder what it's hiding. The carpet in the hallways is stained and gives a pretty rough first impression. Communication with staff is through a chat on the app. It took 2 days to get an extra blanket. Our room overlooked university avenue. Fun to watch the traffic, but pretty loud each night. I would save the hassle and put your funds towards a place with a front desk.

The unit was just okay. The kitchen and bathroom had a bit of a smell to them, but that could be a building-wide thing. The real selling point is the location - extremely convenient. Also, if you're looking for a gym during your travels, the one here was really good.

Check in process was not straight forward and we have to wait for 2 hours in the cold outside to get check in instructions. It’s an apartment complex, so we just need to wait outside until we get approval from sonder. When we asked to cancel it, they took long time and customer service was pretty bad.

This place was perfect in all ways except with the full kitchen, which was great, there was not one utensil in the entire unit. Nothing to stir your coffee with even. And I looked everywhere! But everything else was truly perfect.

Great place! Bigger than it looks in online photos. Only thing that was a bummer was it had a very uncomfortable sofa pullout. Needs some sort of padding. But otherwise a great stay!
