I felt unsafe when I pulled up at reception. The building was run down and looked awful. The units where I would have stayed looked ok from the outside I have to say but over the other side were some really run down units with rather off putting inhabitants. I went to another motel for the night.

We stayed a few weeks ago. We booked for 2 nights and we shocked when we arrived at how run down the outside and surroundings was. As we drove down the bumpy gravel driveway around to the accommodation, I felt a little unsafe. The rooms were small but clean, however not a true representation of what we had seen on the website. The bathroom had no extractor fan (so smelt damp), water pooled in the bottom of the shower, the mirror was all corroded around the outside, the floor tiles were missing grouting and the paint all over the roof beams looked terrible. We tried to use the air con, but when we turned it on it smelt bad so turned off. TV in room was not great as signal kept cutting out. Feel it was overpriced for what it was. We were booked to stay another night a few days later on our return to Taupo however we cancelled and found an alternative resort.

The exterior of the buildings is very dated and off putting when you first arrive. The staff were friendly and allowed early check in. Rooms clean and beds comfy. The setting is lovely and peaceful.

The air conditioner was in the main room - two rooms and a hallway away from the bedroom, so the place stayed pretty hot. There was need for updating, and the walls are thin as we could hear the people in the rooms next to us going up their stairs to their twin bed loft area.

It met our needs for our stay in Taupo. Unfortunately the motel is a bit tired and has lost facilities, like the restaurant. It was easy to use the path to the river and into town

The actual property looks quite different to how the website and booking sites present it. The place is very run down with the sign falling off, looks abandoned on arrival and does not really deserve the name “grandeur” or “resort“. Reception area is quite rough and dirty looking despite the staff being friendly enough. The room on arrival smell wierd but seemed to air out over time. Sheets and beds were clean and nice but the couch was so old and stained we had to request a sheet to lay on top of it. The bathroom had been done up which was good and clean. Overall just seemed very run down for what we paid. The main issue, is it is not accurately presented on the websites.

Room although clean was sparsely equipped: no where to hang clothes. No light switches near bed. Had to fumble to find bed in dark after switching off light. Soap dispensers in bathroom empty. TV reception very poor with constant picture and sound failure. Grounds around hotel were extremely overgrown and unkempt. Derelict buildings scattered around. Needs a huge renovation project.

When you arrive the reception building looks a bit run down. But the rooms are separate houses further away surrounded by nature and a little stream running in front. The rooms are very clean, new towels and bedsheets and the bathroom is modern and newly renovated. Also had a spa bath in a backroom. It's spacious and super quiet, apart from the singing birds. Highly recommend.

The room we had was actually pretty nice. I have read some mixed reviews but my 14 and 10 year old daughters and I found it fine for our 1 night stay in Taupo. It's further out from the town area but we had a car so wasn't too worried. The area itself did look a bit old and reception area run down but it was cheap and the shower was warm, bathroom clean, room itself was warm enough and beds fine. Would stay again if I had to.
