Free shuttle from/to the airport and this is where you spend most of the time for a winter Aurora experience. Stay for the warmth indoors and onsite food when you need it.
Walking distance to the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage centre, and to downtown groceries.
Really appreciated the mini kitchenette in the room. Fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, dishes &cutlery made our stay much more convenient. Restaurant and lounge have good food and good prices.
Hotel is modern and quiet. Beds are comfy. Easy walk to downtown, groceries and public transit.
Recommend this property.
The stay would have been better if the tv in my room worked and the morning shower had hot, in place of warm, water.
The bed was comfortable, the room a good size.
Clean and everyone is so kind! Prepare yourself to be shocked (literally) every time you touch the elevator button and door handles LOL apparently that’s a Yellowknife thing due to the dryness. Airport shuttle was great and on time. All the tours came to pick us up and we walked to a grocery store. The lounge had great food for evening snacks.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
We first checked into room 115. Avoid this room at all costs. Next to a stairwell, that was used nearly all night (aurora tours returning, people getting up early for flights). The hotel is new, clean, but that room 115 (and maybe more rooms on first floor) are all way too noisy. Between the stomping boots in stairwell and hallway, the people above and to the sides of you, etc.. It isn't good. We got moved up to room 412, which was a whole lot better. So I can recommend the 4th floor. Much quieter. Did still run our of hot water twice, and the fridge really didn't seem cold enough. Plus they need to make sure there isn't a hump between the sidewalk and their walkway (buildup of ice and snow).....that hump is dangerous; easy to fall.
I upgraded to the king suite that had a kitchen and bedroom because we like to cook most of our meals. Room 160. The layout was very nice and even had a clothes washer and dryer. Looked perfect, except it wasn’t. First thing of note is the limited cookware, and what was there was not clean and was damaged. Pretty much not useable, though we made it work. Kitchen knife was exceptionally dull. The kitchen area was obviously not cleaned, with dirt and crumbs on the floor (there was even a penny in the crumb pile). There was an old, spoiled sponge with food crusted on it, and the dish rag was spoiled as well. No drying towels were provided.
Then there were the vertical blinds in the living room area. We were on the first floor, so people walking by can see in. The blinds were so broken we couldn't fully close them. Hence, no privacy. There were some slats that were wired to the top rail, so the hotel obviously knew they were in poor shape. The bathroom felt pretty clean, which was nice. The bed sheets and bed cover were stained, with either blood or feces, I wasn’t sure. I pointed this out to housekeeping the next day, and they were pretty uninterested. Didn’t offer to get a non-stained cover. I asked if they clean the covers, and he said yes. End of conversation. They did go to another unit and gave me two used sponges. I ended up soaking them in bleach water to sanitize.
We had one meal at the onsite restaurant. Food was decent.
For the extra cost. I expected more.
