We had a fantastic stay at Second Wind Country Inn. The building and grounds are beautiful. The owner-operator is sweet and kind; we had a great conversation with Kelly. While some might complain about the lack of television, it was very nice to have weekend unplugged from big media. I highly recommend Second Wind. You're only minutes away from downtown Ashland (and excellent food) and within a short drive of other attractions like Bayfield and the Lake. The country side is gorgeous and the air is fresh. We'll definitely be keeping Second Wind in mind the next time we venture up to Lake Superior.

We enjoyed the great accomodations.. The rooms were nicely furnished, all supplied bedding, towels, etc were first quality and above all Clean. The place is very personnaly decorated with "northern wisconsin" items and furnishings--We liked the property location..altho Not in town, it was very nice setting I enjoyed conversations withn both of the hosts.. We recommend this "home"

We loved the quiet seclusion of the property and yet we were only a few miles from downtown. The host was amazing and assisted with any and all needs. The room was clean and cozy and it was hard to leave. Definitely keeping this location bookmarked for future stays!!!

We loved our stay! The property is beautiful and peaceful. It is convenient to get to shops and restaurants but still in the country. The Northern Lights Loft had a beautiful view with some great sunrises and sunsets to be seen from the balcony.

A large house in a quiet rural location with very spacious, fully equipped apartments, stylish interiors, owned and run by a very friendly family. A great place to relax and enjoy nature of N Wisconsin.

Peaceful, beautiful, restful

We came for the Birkie, and LOVED staying in this spacious lovely Inn. Beds were comfy, kitchenette was very functional, and nice open space (windows with lovely with view of land and full moon while we were there). Kelly and Mark were so very friendly and made our stay feel like we were "at home." Great area to walk, fresh air, cute animals (horses, donkeys, outdoor cats and a dog - all very friendly!). Lots of interesting books to peruse, and family games to play. Thank you for NOT have a tv!!! :)

The hosts were friendly and gave great advice on where to go round Ashland and Bayfield. Our room was very clean and the common area had extra seating and a coffee and reading area. The house is located just a few miles out of town on a small farm set on many acres. A peaceful country setting with beautiful scenery and animals.

Charming Retreat

For our recent stay at Second Wind, we were thoroughly impressed with the property and the attention to detail that Mark and Kelly brought forth both in its construction and as the current proprietors. The room was quite comfortable, though the bed was a bit firmer than we were used to. What surprised us most was how quiet the room was- this was greatly appreciated. They were gracious hosts and gave us some great tips on things to see and do in the area. We would certainly recommend a stay here, and have it on our short list for our next vacation to the area.

The inn is amazing with gorgeous surroundings and very nice interior rooms. The Innkeepers were extremely nice and interacted with the guests daily and quickly responded to the needs of their guests. Our only disappointment was after reading reviews of great breakfasts at the inn we learned that was no longer included since Covid. There was a very nice gathering room with coffee, tea & hot chocolate and a toaster. Maybe some muffins, bread, bagels would be a nice addition. We will definitely return when visiting the area again
