I gave it to stars cause the only thing it has going for it is its location. It is close to downtown Bar Harbor and to Acadia. Otherwise, this home is a college rental during the year and it shows by how it is maintain, the one bathroom is covered in black mold on the ceiling and around the shower ,the is furniture needs to be replaced and some of it is even broken. The house needs a good cleaning. All the doors are filthy. In fact the house could use a good painting inside and outside The cupboards are filthy the pots need to be replaced. The house has potential but needs more care and maintenance. I would not recommend people staying there, especially in till they fix the mold in that bathroom.

Checked out 2 days early. The property was not cleaned thoroughly. There are cob webs and spiders on ceiling. Bathroom has mold on ceiling. Flooring is peeling up in dining room. For what we payed. The owner should do a better job a cleaning.

The home is pretty old, which is ok, but some things were really run down. A chair inside was ripped, when you sit in one of the couches, you sink almost to the floor! The beds were comfortable, the air conditioners worked, we had hot water. We wanted to sit outside at the table and chairs in the backyard, but there was bird poop on the cushions, and we flipped them over but the underneath side of the cushion was in worse shape! Very dirty! We realized after we got there that this home is owned by a college and they rent to students in this house, so the care the college has given the house is probably minimal. However you run your business is up to you, but we spent around 3000 for 4 nights…too expensive for what we got. The house was convenient to downtown Bar Harbor…which was the biggest plus of this house. I would never stay here again though.

Good resting place only

About property:What went well - Location is great - 15 min walk to Bar Harbor. Quiet, all one floor and nearby to grocery stores, restaurants etc. Vacasa customer service was great and timely communications. What wasn't right - The listing pictures are not a good reflection of actual house. Looks like pictures were taken few years ago and house has gone through changes since then. House doesn't seem to have been upgraded in a while.Blinds are torn and shredded. Serves it's purpose as a resting place but really needs some maintenance. It's disappointing given the pictures reflect something different. If you are expecting more than just a resting stay, you will be disappointed.Pictures show AC in atleast 2-3 BR but actually only one has it. Also some ACs would turn to heat suddenly though set to be cooling.Chairs, tables are too old and scrapping off the surface.Backyard isn't usable at all. Tables & chairs in backyard seemed not cleaned for weeks and torn.House lock was painful. We couldn't get in without few tries. Vacasa CS helped get in once when it didn't work at all.About VRBO: - It appears VRBO doesn't take responsibility of incorrect listing details or issues etc on it's platform as they offer to escalate to property owner, file complaint etc in case of issues/complaint. Not sure what value VRBO adds here.

July visit

We loved Bar Harbor. The house is walkable to the town square. It was quiet and has off street parking. Management responded quickly to a maintenance concern. The kitchen had what we needed. Wi-Fi for 7 people was tough but we liked our stay.

Wow

Unbelievably filthy, old (not vintage, old dirty falling apart) and uncomfortable. They did credit us a little for the lack of cleanliness however it took away hours of we calling and waiting on the phone talking to various people to get it to happen. Have never had such a bad experience in a rental especially for the price point. Can’t believe they can continue to rent this place. Not to mention you can lock the front door but the windows next to the front door don’t lock so it’s not very safe.

Not an accurate depiction of the home

Not what we expected - home is old and tired. Decent location but not what the pictures showed on the site.

Walkable

The property was very walkable to town and had a nice cozy outdoor space. I would recommend bringing or buying at the store any condiments needed for basic cooking. This particular property doesn’t have salt/pepper/oil due to their leave absolutely nothing behind policy. For the price we were a bit disappointed with the overall appearance.

Summer 2021 family vacation

From the moment we booked this property until the final day of our vacation, the vacasa property management team was extremely helpful and quick to answer any questions we had. They worked over and above while we were there with any issues we had. Thank you for making our stay wonderful!
