Needs to be renovated, but staff friendly

The staff are really great and friendly and the hotel is surface level clean. The hotel lobby and breakfast areas are adequate. I had read previous reviews warning the hotel rooms were out of date. When I entered my room, and saw that it was clean but out of date, I was prepared. However, out of date, included the room not being in great shape in general. I was in a double bed room- one of the bed's sheets were all pilled and after laying down for an hour to rest, my sensitive skin was all itchy and red. The room had a musky damp smell to it. The room felt warm to me, so i looked around for a modern day NEST temperature control or something similar. I didn't find anything, I had to figure out the controls on the old school heat/AC unit. I had the fan run during my entire two night stay. By the morning of my check out, my clean clothes that had been in my open suitcase for 2 days stunk. they smelled just really gross, either the room itself or the use of the fan on the unit was the culprit. i would not recommend this specific hotel, in spite of the really friendly staff.

Clean room and nice staff. Breakfast was great. The only thing they could improve is the room doors. They are not slow close and don’t seem to have padding so you hear everyone’s doors slamming if they don’t close them softly.

Week Long Stay

My stay was great overall. Shortly after arriving, I did notice something regarding the cleanliness of my room. I called down to the front desk and it was immediately taken care of. The young man even offered to switch my room for another one. The room was clean as was the hotel. Each time I left or returned I noticed someone from the staff tidying up which told me that they take a lot of pride in the appearance of their hotel. Everything also smelled clean which was another high point for me. The only “complaint” I have was the mattress. I have a bad back and did find that my back was stiff and sore for the duration of my stay. I would love to see updated mattresses with more support or even an option for a room with a memory foam mattress or other accommodations. When I’m in the area again I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

South Haven Baymont by Wyndom

We checked in late. The process was quick & easy. Our king room was clean, easy to access & the bed was very comfortable. We were blessed to be on the ground level as we had our 2 dogs with us. We didn't use any amenities so we can't report on those. All in all, we would definitely stay at The Baymont by Wyndom in South Haven again!
