I’ve been staying here for the last 6-7 years due to proximity to Desithl restaurant. This Hampton is due for an overhaul. Rooms haven’t changed a bit and it seems they haven’t been keeping up with maintenance. Nothing horrendous, but just doesn’t feel “clean” from the front desk to the elevator to the room. Our latest stay - the bathroom smelled like sewer gas when we got there. The smell went away quickly, so I’m assuming the plumbing just hadn’t been run in a while. Carpet/room furniture was clean enough, but definitely worn out. Caulk in the shower has not been maintained in some time - Mold/mildew behind all of it. Dirty/cracked grout on the floor tile. I think on our next trip to Normal, we’ll probably give another hotel a shot.

The room was not properly cleaned. Their were two food wrappers on floor, nightstand in middle was clearly not wiped down and the charger outlets on the nightstand in the middle were clearly not dusted or wiped down for awhile. Disappointed.

Overall the room and bath were clean, but I did find someone’s contact lenses on the floors of the room and bath. The pillows were really too soft and small so a third pillow would have been nice. The temperature of the room fluctuated between cold air and too hot. The breakfast was underwhelming and just ok.

Room items not as perfect as usual

The hotel is very nice and we've started there numerous times in the last 2 years. This time the TV was unplugged and the cable unplugged from it, probably by the previous guest. My husband handled it but an older couple would have had a hard time. The Kleenex box may have been stolen by the previous guest because it only had one tissue poking through the top of the plastic cover and no box under the cover.

It would have been nice if they adhered to the no smoker policy. People smoking in the Halls and in the stairwell it was kind of disgusting to walk out of door and find squish food at the entrance.. and it wasn't just for a few minutes it was the whole trip the same food there which means no one was cleaning it up. I don't know that I will come back this hotel because I would give it a three-star rating on cleanliness and upkeep. No response to complaint that people were slamming doors at 1:30 2:00 in the morning and yelling in the hallway.

The hotel was nice. Older. Bedding needs to be replaced. When we arrived no one was at the front desk. We had to wait. We were tired and just wanted our room. Needs improvement. Breakfast was just ok.
