I paid for a king bed but was given a queen bed at check-in. There was a gap in the doorframe exposing the outside. The place was clean but very old and rundown.

We had stayed here a few years ago. It's a throwback to the 70's for sure. Unfortunately nothing has been updated much to the property in several years. The rooms are really not dirty they are just showing their age but you get what you pay for

We booked this dump because Expedia gave it a 8.0 out of 10.0 on 704 "verified" rewiws, and the price was right. I usually read the reviews but this was the last of 10 booking and I screwed up. Royal Motel is the type of motel that should book by the hour - it was beyond filthy, sink falling off the wall, smelled of bleach & mold, broken refrigerator, sprung bathroom door. If you wonder how it had such a high score, look at the 704 reviews. Of the latest 35, 26 were written by someone named "Edgar" who stayed 67 days and rated each stay as 10 out of 10. Of the remaining 9, 7 were rated 10 out of 10 while the last 2 were 2 out of 10 (i.e. terrible). Most of the reviews are phony in order to fool people into coming. Expedia should be ashamed for allowing places like this to be on their website.

Its not a 10/10, the reviews are a lie. The towels were filthy, this place is more suitable for interstate tradies, not holidaymakers. No coffee/tea facilities, ice maker doesn't work, absolutely no frill. On the corner of a major crossroads, it's noisy. Wouldn't put it on my return list
