I have stayed at multiple AmericInn properties and this was a very poor experience. We came up for Parent's Weekend to see our son and booked a suite so that we had a pull out couch for him to stay. The pull out couch was stained and when my son went to lay on it the entire mattress collapsed and the coach came up into the air. We ended up taking him back to his dorm room to sleep which was incredibly disappointing given we were staying the night so we could spend more time together as a family. The bathroom tolliet was also dirty and there were stains on the walls which I hope were pizza stains and not blood. For the price I paid for one night I feel a refund of some sorts is needed. I have pictures if needed for evidence. I would say the staff was very nice.

Not a bad stay, but this hotel needs a lot of updates. We had "semi warm" water for our shower. There was dirt and hair build up in the corners of the bathroom floor. Cobwebs above bed. Night stand light/s were missing a light bulb so only one side worked. We thought the remote didn't work as we couldn't get the TV on, but the TV, frig, and microwave didn't work either when we got in, so we checked outlets and were able to plug things in and then they worked. We couldn't get the hairdryer to work. Staff was very nice though!

This is a super outdated hotel. There’s no hot tub as the pictures indicate; it’s been filled in with cedar planks…but the signage is still up. Weird. Rooms don’t have usb outlets and the tv has few channels. Additionally, rooms smell musky and ours had that lingering odor from when smoking was legal in rooms, I think. The people were nice and the bed was comfortable. It could be worse for sure but the breakfast was its saving grace! Lots of options including waffles, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, donuts, and toast.

Clean facility, location near mall and other shopping, felt safe, plenty of parking, clean rooms. Rooms could use some updates or refresh, but overall clean and spacious. Was there for football game so prices were high but so was every other hotel. I was charged $15 early check in fee even though I was there at 2pm for a 3pm check in.

What you pay doesn't equal what you get

The rooms were not great. Not well stocked on items you usually find in a room. The bathroom lights in one of our rooms did not even work but they didn't apologize or offer to fix - just made a note and that was that. The staff were just ok. One staff member gave a new key to our room for one of our guests who arrived late but whose name was not on the reservation - a bit of a safety concern I'd say. We asked for any bottled water and were told simply "no" without any support or suggestions on where to get any. For what we paid, I would not suggest staying here. We were in for a Hawkeye game and had limited options... but will find an alternative next time.

There were fleas in the room. I alerted the desk staff and brought her a flea that I was able to catch and kill in the bathroom 15 minutes after we checked in. She said she would let someone know. The next morning, I asked the desk employee on shift if there was a note on our visit because there were fleas in the room. She said she didn’t know and told me that the room we were in wasn’t even a pet room (we checked in to that room with a dog). I told her I brought a flea in a cup last night so they could be aware of the situation and treat the room. She said she would let management know, but she didn’t know if they would even be in since it was Friday or if they would be in over the weekend at all. I returned to the room and spotted 2 more fleas on the bed that I was not able to capture. They jumped and landed on the black carpet and I couldn’t find them. I went back to the clerk and asked to cancel my 2nd night reservation due to the infestation and she told me she wasn’t able to do that. She said there was no supervisor and no one she could call and she couldn’t even check me out early without supervisor approval. She said she didn’t know if I would be charged or not for the 2nd night and there was nothing she could do. All of this, made the sink faucet that sprayed out in all directions and the dog hair trapped in the sheet fibers of the “non-pet room” barely noticeable. I still have yet to hear if I will be receiving a refund for the 2nd night since we didn’t stay
