My husband has always wanted to stay at this cute, older motel, but we were a bit disappointed in the room. Beds were very nice and we slept well, however the furniture was very old and dated and could really use an update! The vintage style very small bathroom was okay, but the water temp went from cold, to barely warm, to hot, and back to cold again throughout both of our quick showers! It was obviously the result of other rooms running their showers at the same time. That def needs to be addressed!

We found this hidden gem after a bad stay in Boone and we hit the jackpot! Ethan was great and offered so many fun ideas on places to visit and the room was so cute and cozy! The bedding was great, the bathroom lighting was the best (lol) and my favorite was a bathtub with hot hot water! The property is perfectly maintained, the location is absolutely perfect and most importantly, very quiet as it’s not on the Main Street so you can get a great night’s sleep snuggled up in the great linens! I can’t wait to go back!

The room was VERY small and old but the room was clean. However, the water wouldn’t stay warm the shower so we all had cold showers. Also, the beds were full size instead of queen size.

The Tarheel Suite was spacious and the furnishings were comfortable. It was an easy walk to the town and there were many restaurants around Hillwinds Inn. We loved our accommodations and quick response by the staff. We will stay there again and highly recommend,

The property is old and could use some updating but it was clean. Its a great location to Main Street with easy parking and walkable to shopping and dining. It was pet friendly which is the reason we chose this property. The TV does NOT allow you to stream just FYI.

We loved our stay at the Hillwinds Inn. It is conveniently located with restaurants close by and a short walk to downtown Blowing Rock shopping and dining. We stayed in a room with a balcony and it was clean and spacious. The fridge, sink and microwave were perfect for our two day stay. The bathroom was updated. The staff was very professional and helpful and the grounds were wonderful. Included parking was a pleasure. They allowed us to bring our dog and what a delight that was.The whole town is so dog friendly. Even when I left something behind in the room when we checked out, I easily and promptly got it returned to me just 2 days later. We will definitely stay here again and I could not recommend staying here more. It was a perfect short trip to get away from the summer heat of Charlotte!

August every year at Hillwinds

We always love being at Hillwinds, have been coming for years every first weekend of August for our family reunion in Vilas. So convenient, you can walk everywhere to shops and dinner!
