Hotel gives you everything you need

Really pleased with the hotel. Great communication pre arrival. Staff on reception were very helpful, we had 3 rooms and they put us all next to each other. We had the standard queen room the bed were very comfortable and clean, good shower too. Nice bathroom products. The breakfast was excellent great hot variety, haggis and additional bits were really tasty. Hotel location brilliant, very central for all the Edinburgh sites, shops, buses. Hotel was value for money, overall it added to our great weekend.

Made our trip special.

The hotel was booked as a surprise trip for my 18 year old twins. The hotel upgraded their room and gave them a fantastic view of the castle - they are History students, so they were over the moon! They also received a birthday card and glass of wine from the hotel. The room was lovely, the staff were friendly, we really couldn't ask for anything more. I'm sure we will come back to Edinburgh soon and we wont hesitate to stay here again.

Great location. Breakfast was good. Hotel is renovated, but the core of the building is dated. I was given a room for disabled persons and unfortunately the shower was just an open shower head in the bathroom - no curtain or shower enclosure.

Confortable hotel

The hotel was fine and confortable but you can see the room is a bit dated therefore I found the hotel a bit expensive for what it is. The breakfast was totally correct but not amazing. I would stay again for the location only which is ideal!

The location was excellent — tram, bus, and train access was very convenient, and the city bus tour stop was also nearby. Many key attractions, like the Castle and the old market area, were within walking distance. However, the washroom, especially the shower area, could be improved. There were exposed hot pipes, which felt unsafe. Aside from that, the staff were friendly and everything else was good.

Great hotel.

Myself, my daughter and granddaughter had a two night stay at the Mount Royal and could not fault it. The room was large and airy and the beds were comfortable. I am vegetarian and the choices for breakfast were more than adequate and in pleasant surroundings. Would definitely come back.

Staff at the front desk is very nice, Sri offered us room upgrade to king bed with Castle view after we signed up for ASR rewards. Rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are clean. Breakfast buffet is really good with a variety of options and the staff is friendly. Overall we enjoyed staying 2 nights, the area is nice, walkable to bus stops, restaurants and the old town.
