There were a lot of steps up and down to get to our room not good for elderly people. There was only one bedside cabinet so had to use the floor and hence there was no reading light on one side. Also, the shower was too small if you are elderly or have limited mobility or indeed are overweight. We did pass our comments on to reception when checking out.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel good for a reasonably priced stay. On a busy road though, with trams and buses going by, so try to get room away from the front of the Hotel.

No modern conveniences AC Elevator/lift

Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were allowed into our room early which was great since we had an overnight flight from US. The hotel is quite old and we were on the 5th floor with no elevator. It is also quite hot at the top with no AC. Bathroom is quite small. I am not large by today’s standards and could not turn around in the shower. The toilet is tucked in between the sink and shower. Do not book unless you are quite fit and nimble. Also no temperature control in the room. If you need cold to sleep this place is not for you. Great location, very easy to walk to most areas of town.

Great place to stay

The Place is conveniently located near the bus station where the tour bus pick up point is. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Helped bring our luggages up to our rooms and brought it down when we checked out. The only down side is there is no lift so your knees better be good. Will definitely stay again if ever I return to Edinburgh.
