We chose this hotel because it was near the Brandywine River Museum and Longwood Gardens, which we were visiting for a little getaway. It was a great choice: set back from the highway, quiet, priced right, comfortable, clean.

Nice, quaint hotel

Doors Open to the Past

The walls were thin in 221 as it was an adjoining room. Really disliked hearing entire conversations from our neighbor. The mattress needs to be replaced it sags in the middle. The breakfast was great! We didn’t like every time we traveled the halls seeing into the rooms being cleaned; at least 3-5 with doors wide open. Signing out at the front desk was strange but it appeared they are short staffed.

Charming area & building. It was quiet, peaceful & easy to get a good night's sleep. Staff (especially the gentleman on for the evening/night shift were pleasant & helpful. The bed was comfortable & the handicapped shower with a hand held shower hose excellent in my husband's opinion. We would definitely stay here again.

Great value, clean and friendly

We had stayed here a couple of years ago before the renovation and decided to try it again after seeing pictures and reviews of the renovation. We were impressed with the communication of the staff as well as seeing the cleaner less musty smelling Hotel. Little improvements would be, some of the fixtures in the room are coming off the wall and need to be secured.
