Upon arrival, the property was not at all as described on their website. No beautiful views of the mountains and nothing but overgrown brush. Not to mention that it was in the middle of nowhere, much farther than Durango as described. Not a restaurant, store or gas station within miles and miles. We opted NOT to stay even though we’d already made a $500 + deposit. We left extremely disappointed and angry and had to spend more time and money finding an available hotel. I emailed the property owner, but did not get a response. Terrible experience, terrible misrepresentation.

We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Lake Ranch. The property was fantastic. Lots of birds and a few deer walking around. There’s so many places to sit and enjoy the views. Our room was wonderful. Our room was spacious and very relaxing, with a patio in back. Our only regret is, we did not get to stay longer.

Our room was booked out to someone else which we found out by walking into a dirty cabin. They tried to move us to another cabin and charge us another $400.00 a night we asked for a full refund and they did grant that so thank you! Property was very overgrown and not handicap accessible at all. Photos on line looked nothing like it does now they look like they were taken 10 years ago. Most of Durango was booked up we got lucky and found a motel room for the night. My sister who has cancer had the pleasure of sleeping in a chair then going to chemotherapy the next day and then spending over a hour in a car to go home. Would not recommend nor will we be back!

This property is magical. Quiet, beautiful and special surroundings with lovely gardens, views and just really spectacular natural setting. The casita was super clean, charming and an amazing night sleep in utter silence with great star and night sky viewing. Food was amazing - the breakfast was really excellent. Lobby and common spaces are charming and beautiful indoors and out.

The "free breakfast" was not even a continental breakfast. There was fruit/some, cereal, bagels, sandwich meat/cheese, and horrible coffee. The A/C in the room did not keep the room cool in the slightest and the vent was on the floor when I got to it so I propped it to blow what cool air it had into the room. The heater was left on downstairs so this added to the heat when I initially go there. I also was "allowed" to go to the water since there was nobody booked in the cabin by the water, otherwise apparently at Blue Lake Ranch you aren't allowed to go to the water. There is no restaurant within miles so bring food with you if you go, which I do NOT suggest!

Just a heads up that this B&B is actually a 25 minute drive outside of Durango. That was definitely an unexpected wrinkle in our plans. They don’t serve breakfast until 8am, and if you are riding the Durango to Silverton Railroad, you have to be AT the train station by 8:30, and that’s after you drive 25 minutes to get there, wait 5-10 minutes in line to get into their all day parking lot, and then walk to the station. That issue caused us to have to skip breakfast altogether. Bummed for sure. Aside from that, the staff was super friendly, the room was spacious and comfortable, and we enjoyed the stay. The only critiques for the room were: 1. The TV was really small and didn’t receive any major network stations. 2. The light above the bathroom vanity was quite dim, although I’ve been told I’m much more attractive in the dark, so maybe the dim lighting was a blessing?! 3. It took 90 seconds or more to get hot water at the shower and/or the bathroom sink.

What a charming place here in Colorado. It was a lot more than what I expected. Lots of darling cabins cottages, and barn. Houses to stay in. The property is beautiful with lots of areas to rome. Breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay here again.

Exceptionally wonderful it was beautiful, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed the lodge that we stayed in was breathtakingly beautiful We walked to the lake, Every room had a view, very very comfortable and classy.
